Pillow Cover Giveaway from Comfy Heaven

This giveaway is now closed – thanks for entering!

Happy Wednesday all! Since the downhill slide to Friday starts today and it’s only a mere two weeks until Thanksgiving (and the four-day weekend that comes with it!), I say we have a cause for celebration. And what better way to celebrate than by giving away something that most of us love even more than a stylish pair of shoes…pillows! Beautiful, hand-embroidered pillow covers from Comfy Heaven!

Comfy Heaven pillow covers come to us all the way from Sri Lanka, which is off the coast of India for the geography-impaired among us :-). Comfy Heaven is the brainchild of Anita and her mother who create their own designs and run the company based on Fair Trade Principles. All of the pillow covers and other items they sell are handcrafted by women from low income households, providing them with the freedom to work out of their own homes while taking care of their families. Comfy Heaven’s pillow covers are known for their excellent craftsmanship and style and with thousands of sales and a 100% satisfaction rating, you can always trust that you’ll be satisfied with your purchase.

There are loads of pillow covers to choose from, but these are a few of my favorites:

Wouldn’t you love this pillow cover duo for the holidays?!:

Comfy Heaven also has beautiful ring bearer pillows:

So much gorgeousness! And since each pillow cover they create is custom made for you, the colors and sizes of many of their pillow covers can be customized to fit exactly what you’re looking for.

DIY Faux Sheepskin Pillow

Jonathan-Adler-Pink-Flame-Duvet-Cover

My youngest daughter’s birthday is coming up and her big birthday present was supposed to have been a bedroom makeover but our upcoming move threw a bit of a wrench into that plan. It’s still going to happen but not until a few weeks after her birthday once we’re in our new house. I’ve promised that her room will be the first one in the house that is redecorated and I’m trying to get a plan in place and make a few purchases before the move so that I’m ready to hit the ground running in Connecticut. The jumping off point for the room is this colorful duvet:  I’ve found several pillows that I thought would look great with this bedding but my uber picky sweet daughter has vetoed every one of them. We were at a decorating standstill until a few weeks ago when I dragged her along to […]

Inexpensive Sofas: A Better Choice than IKEA’s EKTORP?

EKTORP-IKEA-sofa-white

The house that we are moving to in Connecticut has a fairly large living room and since our current living room space is quite small, we’re going to need some new furniture. At the top of the list is a sofa. We’re in a bit of a unique situation – we may only be in this house for a few years so we don’t want to invest much money in furniture that we won’t have a place for if we end up moving again. What sofa do I think I’ll most likely end up with? IKEA’s slipcovered  EKTORP Sofa in Blekinge white. At only $399, the combination of style and price is hard to beat! The beauty of this sofa is that when it’s used in a well decorated space, the sofa looks anything but cheap: {cote de Texas} {Brooklyn Home Company} {cote de Texas} {Brooklyn Home Company} {Morning T} {Holly […]

Dining Room Design Ideas: Mixed Seating

Home-Goods-Dining-Room-Side-Chair-WM

My sister has a brick colonial built in the early ’70s that she’s slowly been updating, room by room. The next room on her decorating to-do list is her dining room, where she’s starting completely from scratch after having already sold her old dining room set on Craigslist. While being able to start from scratch is a decorating dream for some, for others (including my sister) starting with nothing to work from is overwhelming. There are several dining room design ideas I’ve encouraged her to consider before deciding on the design of her space, one of which is using mixed seating around the dining room table. There are a couple of reasons why I love this idea for dining rooms – first of all, it gives the space a more collected, well designed feel rather than looking like the chairs and table were purchased without thought in a single trip to […]

Dress Up Your Dining Chairs: Corseted Slipcovers

Tie-back-chairs-for-office-WM

After posting about our new home office last week, a few of you e-mailed asking where to find corseted slipcovers such as those on the pair of Parsons chairs that now sit at our office desk:  Slipcovers that tie or lace up on the back are a great way to add decorative interest to plain Parsons chairs: {in the fun lane} {I Heart Houses} {cote de Texas} {Country Living} {Houzz} {Houzz: Alan Mascord Design Associates} I lucked into my corseted chairs at Home Again Fine Consignments in Wilmington, N.C. when I was visiting my parents over Christmas. Home Again frequently gets in shipments of unused furniture from market showrooms, as was the case with these chairs.  I figured out that they are the Corseted Linen Side Chairs with Black Stripes by Furniture Classics. You can’t buy directly from Furniture Classics but if you’re interested in them, google the name of the chairs online and you’ll find […]

Pillow Cover Giveaway from Pillow Flight!

Coordinating-pillow-covers

This giveaway is now closed – thanks for entering! Happy Wednesday all! It’s time for our monthly giveaway and I’ve got an awesome one for you today from Etsy shop Pillow Flight!  There are lots of sources for pillows on Etsy but Pillow Flight totally stands out from the rest because of the gorgeous selection of fabrics and the high quality of craftsmanship that the shop’s owner, Jessica, puts into creating each pillow cover. Jessica has a background in interior design so she has a great eye for mixing modern patterns with classic basics as well as coordinating different colors and patterns. When you look through Pillow Flight’s selection of pillow covers, you’ll see that Jessica shows many of them grouped in mini “collections” with two or three coordinating covers like this: So if you’re someone who has a hard time putting together a grouping of pillows in different fabrics […]
