Pillow Cover Giveaway from Comfy Heaven

This giveaway is now closed – thanks for entering!

Happy Wednesday all! Since the downhill slide to Friday starts today and it’s only a mere two weeks until Thanksgiving (and the four-day weekend that comes with it!), I say we have a cause for celebration. And what better way to celebrate than by giving away something that most of us love even more than a stylish pair of shoes…pillows! Beautiful, hand-embroidered pillow covers from Comfy Heaven!

Comfy Heaven pillow covers come to us all the way from Sri Lanka, which is off the coast of India for the geography-impaired among us :-). Comfy Heaven is the brainchild of Anita and her mother who create their own designs and run the company based on Fair Trade Principles. All of the pillow covers and other items they sell are handcrafted by women from low income households, providing them with the freedom to work out of their own homes while taking care of their families. Comfy Heaven’s pillow covers are known for their excellent craftsmanship and style and with thousands of sales and a 100% satisfaction rating, you can always trust that you’ll be satisfied with your purchase.

There are loads of pillow covers to choose from, but these are a few of my favorites:

Wouldn’t you love this pillow cover duo for the holidays?!:

Comfy Heaven also has beautiful ring bearer pillows:

So much gorgeousness! And since each pillow cover they create is custom made for you, the colors and sizes of many of their pillow covers can be customized to fit exactly what you’re looking for.

DIY Faux Sheepskin Pillow

Jonathan-Adler-Pink-Flame-Duvet-Cover

My youngest daughter’s birthday is coming up and her big birthday present was supposed to have been a bedroom makeover but our upcoming move threw a bit of a wrench into that plan. It’s still going to happen but not until a few weeks after her birthday once we’re in our new house. I’ve promised that her room will be the first one in the house that is redecorated and I’m trying to get a plan in place and make a few purchases before the move so that I’m ready to hit the ground running in Connecticut. The jumping off point for the room is this colorful duvet:  I’ve found several pillows that I thought would look great with this bedding but my uber picky sweet daughter has vetoed every one of them. We were at a decorating standstill until a few weeks ago when I dragged her along to […]

Pillow Cover Giveaway from Pillow Flight!

Coordinating-pillow-covers

This giveaway is now closed – thanks for entering! Happy Wednesday all! It’s time for our monthly giveaway and I’ve got an awesome one for you today from Etsy shop Pillow Flight!  There are lots of sources for pillows on Etsy but Pillow Flight totally stands out from the rest because of the gorgeous selection of fabrics and the high quality of craftsmanship that the shop’s owner, Jessica, puts into creating each pillow cover. Jessica has a background in interior design so she has a great eye for mixing modern patterns with classic basics as well as coordinating different colors and patterns. When you look through Pillow Flight’s selection of pillow covers, you’ll see that Jessica shows many of them grouped in mini “collections” with two or three coordinating covers like this: So if you’re someone who has a hard time putting together a grouping of pillows in different fabrics […]

Changing Up the Family Room

Before-of-Fireplace-and-Bookcase

Along with every other space in our house, our family room is a room in progress but it’s come a long way since the day we moved in: I’ve already blogged about several projects we tackled in our family room, including painting the bookcases and adding new knobs and trim, having stone veneer installed on our fireplace, lining the back of the bookcases with burlap and upholstery tacks, and switching out our old traditional rug for a new one from West Elm. After getting the basics of the room into place, it was time to start working on some of the smaller decorative details.  First off – styling the bookcase shelves. After adding the burlap to the back of the bookcases, I half-hazardly threw a bunch of things up on the shelves with the intent of rearranging them in the next few weeks. This week (months after doing the burlap…) I finally […]

Decorating with Ticking Stripe Fabric

Ticking-Stripe-as-Wallpaper

Finding fabrics for pillows, bedding, or upholstered pieces that work well with the colors and textures already in your space can be a challenge! If you’re looking for a somewhat neutral fabric because there is already a lot of color and pattern in your space, ticking stripe can be a great choice. Its subtle pattern adds style but doesn’t compete with any busy patterns and colors nearby.  Ticking stripe also looks fabulous in rooms decorated mostly or entirely in neutrals, bringing a classic, refined feel. And another plus – it never goes out of style.  It has been used by the best of decorators for ages and continues to be used just as much today. In fact, the October issues of Elle Decor and Country Living both had images of some fabulous rooms where ticking stripe fabric takes center stage. Elle Decor showcased Carolina Herrera Baez’s Madrid home where ticking stripe […]

Exploring the 2012 Country Living Fair

Country-Living-Fair-Carved-Pumpkin-Watermarked

Out of all of the design magazines that I read, Country Living ranks near the top of my list of favorites. Unlike Elle Décor and Architectural Digest that showcase interiors designed with unlimited budgets, Country living is full of beautiful yet affordable ideas that you can actually incorporate into your own home. I’ve read about Country Living’s fairs for years and finally got a chance to explore one this past weekend! I went with my friend Vickie, who is my favorite shopping partner in crime.  I was thinking that I was uber-prepared, having brought a huge burlap shoulder bag for my loot but it quickly became apparent that it was an amateur move – most of the ladies walking into the fair came with folding shopping carts. And I thought I was a serious shopper. As we toured around the fair, I snapped some pics of some of my favorite […]

Cozying Up Your Home with Cable Knit Décor

cream-large-cable-knit-rug

As the weather turns colder, there are few things more comforting than cozying up in your favorite sweater or coming in from the cold and and snuggling under a warm knitted throw. Cable-knit throws are a time-honored classic that you can find gracing some of the most gorgeous rooms: {Country Living} {Lauren Liess} {Pottery Barn} {Houzz} But throws aren’t the only option for bringing the warmth and texture of cable-knit into your home – there’s plenty of other unique cable-knit home décor items! I love this set of letterpress printed Cable Knit Coasters from Etsy shop Red Bird Ink – they provide a cozy spot for that steaming cup of morning coffee!: These decorative white ceramic Table Vases from Target would be perfect to use as part of a fall tablescape or mantel décor as would these textural Tricot Ceramic Collection vases from The HomePort. The HomePort’s Tricot Ceramic Collection also includes ceramic jars and pots as […]
