I mentioned a few days ago that it had been a tumultuous week for my family and I’ve finally wrapped my head around our big news enough that I can blog about it without tears on the keyboard – we just found out that we are being relocated to Connecticut with my husband’s job. We have always joked that just as soon as we got every room in our house remodeled, we’d end up being moved elsewhere and that’s pretty much what’s happened. We’re sad to be leaving our well-loved home, but it’s leaving behind our friends that makes this really rough. We moved to Cincinnati as newlyweds, having no family here and knowing absolutely no one. Fast forward 15 years and here we are with two tween girls, a house that fits our family like a glove, and the best friends and neighbors you can imagine. It would be hard enough to move away if it was just me and my husband, but the fact that we’ve got two little girls in the picture too makes it a zillion times harder. Cincinnati is all they’ve ever known and telling them about the move (and their tearful response to the news) was heart wrenching. But here’s the good news – we’re moving to Connecticut, which is a beautiful place to live. We’ll be only an hour or so outside of New York City (which we love!), we’ll be an easy drive to the ocean, and we’ll have lots of opportunity to explore New England, which is an area of the country that we haven’t seen much of.
And if you’re from Fairfield County, Connecticut and have any advice on the best city to live in or just want to tell me how you like it there, I’d love to hear from you! (Although I realize that you may be busy shoveling some serious snow today….). This is definitely a big adventure for my family and I’m looking forward to seeing where it takes us and sharing it with you.
