By now I’m guessing that most of you have heard about the Target + Neiman Marcus Holiday Collection that became available over the weekend.
If you haven’t, it’s an exclusive collection of over 50 gifts from 25 top fashion designers and includes a little bit of everything – there’s clothing, Christmas ornaments, handbags, stationary sets, slippers, sunglasses, and even a blinged-out bicycle. I previewed the collection online last week, looking particularly at the home accessories, and didn’t see any “have to have” items so I decided not to fight the crowds this weekend (although all reports are that there weren’t the hoards of people going after these gifts that everyone expected) and instead just popped into Target this morning. To my surprise, my Target has full shelves with every item still available. Instead of being spread out throughout the store, as they do with The Shops at Target, all of the gifts were located in the same spot near the front of the store on several displays like this one:
Here’s a run-through of the home-related items that are available:
A Diane von Furstenberg Jewelry Box that features a vintage inspired black and white print in a high gloss lacquer. The box is lined with velvet and has a ring holder and four divided compartments:
An Altuzarra Shaker and Altuzarra Double Old Fashioned Glasses (set of 4) designed by Joseph Altuzarra. I love the yellow gold lattice design but I don’t think the glasses are quite as good looking in person as I had expected from my online preview.
An Altuzarra Tray that has a faux croc textured base covered with tempered glass and gold accents on the corners and handles. The tray is quite heavy and appears very well made. This was one of my favorite pieces but I don’t want to spend $80 on it so I’ll just hope that I can snag it once this collection gets discounted…
A Phillip Crangi Trinket Box that is encircled with studs and has a lid with a silvertone D-ring pull and spiral etching. It is MUCH smaller than I expected it to be (it’s only about 3″ tall and wide!) but also better looking.
An Eddie Borgo Accent Box that is another of my favorites. It has a hexagonal shape accented with a ring of studs and has a felt lined interior. Again, this box was smaller than I had expected at about 4.5″ high.
A set of four Tracy Reese Dessert Plates that are inspired by the brightly colored, elaborately patterned textiles of her signature dresses. It’s hard to tell from the image, but the plates are trimmed in gold and have beautiful, vibrant colors.
An Oscar de la Renta Pet Bowl that has an embossed floral lace design and a medallion detail at the bottom. Perfect for the pampered pooch!
I looked through the clothing as well and didn’t fall in love with any of the Women’s clothing but some of the girls’ dresses, such as this Marchesa Girl’s Beaded Dress, are beautiful!
One plus that I didn’t realize from previewing the items online is that nearly all of the home accessories come in a nice decorative box that’s perfect for gifting. The bottom line is that there are some nice items in this collection that are great gifts for the person who already has everything. However, expect to pay more than you typically would for home accessories at Target. I think that Target and Neiman Marcus were expecting a repeat of the frenzied hoards of people that ravaged the Missoni collection but that didn’t quite happen so the stores may very well have the item you’re looking for in stock. If not, check online – Target is currently offering free shipping if you spend $50 or more and you can get free shipping online from Neiman Marcus through December 4th with the code NMFALL. What’s your take on this collection??
