Seeing the same vintage nesting herb crates again in a gorgeous farmhouse kitchen by Van Wicklen Design sealed the deal:

There are lots of things that I can envision putting in this rustic display box if I hang it in my kitchen – small apothecary jars holding coffee, rice, beans, and other kitchen staples, coffee mugs, some type of collection (I love the look of {this collection of shells in a similar vintage display box} by It’s the Little Things). So what do you think? Would you go with the barnwood display box, wait until you could get your hands on the vintage nesting herb crates, or maybe find a place for both?
Update! I ended up getting a set of the nesting herb crates that I hung up in our kitchen:
and I used the barnwood display box to hold supplies in our craft room:
I’m so happy with both!
thx for the shout out Kris! I still adore those nesting boxes and might have to use them somewhere in the new kitchen too.
Hey, I’d say go for both….you can always use them somewhere. And 4 wks will fly by ……and then they’d be at your door!
If you’re willing to share the resource for the other numbered crate, I’d love to know!
Love your suggestion to go for both – they both fit in so well with the style of our new house that I’m sure I could find a spot for them. The numbered crate is actually from Target – the wall art section!
We are getting a target in my nearest city and I couldn’t be more excited! I love your find, you may be able to lay it down on a dining table or coffee table and decorate it with mason jars and flowers too!
Oh my gosh – I can’t imagine not having a Target. I totally get your excitement. GREAT idea for using it laying down – it had never even occurred to me. My readers are such smarties 🙂
Kris, I obviously speed read your post before coffee this morning….I’m reading it again and noticed you HAD already mentioned Target, duh! I love the idea of the Target rack for the coffee cups!
No worries – I’ve actually done the same exact thing myself before. My brain hardly functions until I’ve had my morning caffeine.
I have adored the herb crates for sometime now too, but that display box is really cool too. I can’t believe it’s from Target! Now I am thinking where could I use one of these in my house too.
It is hard to believe it’s from Target, isn’t it? I’ve actually had better luck for home stuff at Target lately than at my usual mecca for home accessories, HomeGoods.
I would get both and maybe use the numbered box in your crafting area with mason jars filled with crafting stuff like buttons, ribbons, markers, etc.
I love your style, btw
LOVE the idea to use it in our craft room! I know my oldest daughter will go for it because she loves the numbered box. I’ll have to work on my youngest who doesn’t like anything that looks “old fashioned”.
I really like the separate crates. I would probably wait. But, I love the hunt, so don’t go by me.
I know you’re right – waiting for the nesting boxes is the thing to do – but I’m sooo impatient!
I like the separate crates… but there are so many ways you can use both!
Was just thinking today that the crates would be awesome for hiding the dog leash and baggies (behind something pretty of course!) so I think waiting for those is the answer. A reader recommended using the numbered display box in our craft room, which I hadn’t thought of – may keep them both and go that route! Thanks for your input!
Of course I am loving that bar cart….my current preoccupation! I totally love the barnwood display box for mugs – how perfect is that for coffee drinkers? Buuuuut, the separate herb crates, lined up on a wall…..love that look too. I’m so helpful aren’t I?
I totally thought of you Lisa when I saw that bar car online – isn’t it cool? I hope my Target restocks it soon because I’d love to see it in person.
I just noticed this kind of stuff at Target. They have some great farmhouse type items…

And the cutest dog bone shaped storage basket with hooks for leashes and collars!

Thanks for sharing those – I hadn’t seen either of them! LOVE that wooden shelf!
