Sharing the step by step DIY tutorial for creating your own chevron bulletin board! The perfect chevron decor to add to your home!
Over the weekend I finished up a project for my oldest daughter’s bedroom and am excited to share it with you – a chevron bulletin board!
It was inspired by this chevron burlap that I spotted at Hobby Lobby a few weeks ago:
I thought it was the coolest fabric and was wishing that they had some other color options but then I realized that if I used this fabric as a template, I could paint a chevron pattern on plain burlap in any colors that I choose. So I left Hobby Lobby with a yard of the burlap chevron fabric, 1 1/2 yards of plain burlap, and several colors of craft paint in the colors of my daughter’s bedding. The bulletin board that I wanted to make was an odd size – only about 18″ tall but 50″ wide. Since cork board doesn’t come in pieces that wide (or, if it does, I couldn’t find it…), I bought a piece of 3/4″ insulation sheathing (that I cut to size using a straight edge and razor) from Home Depot as the base for the bulletin board . I wasn’t sure how the sheathing would hold up to repeated pinning and also didn’t want the purple color showing through my burlap so adhered a piece of rolled cork (also cut to size) to the the sheathing using spray adhesive:
