Sharing my favorite summer home decor pieces!
I LOVE summer and love the bright, fun colors of summer home decor pieces too! Today I’m sharing five of my favorites – the pieces I wouldn’t want to go through this season without! Ready to see? (post includes some affiliate links – full disclosure statement available {here})
Vases for Summer Flowers
One of my favorite things about summer is that by the time mid June rolls around, we have an endless supply of free flowers in our yard that I can clip and fill the house with like this beautiful bouquet of purple hydrangeas from last year. I have several go-to vases that are on repeat including this long-time favorite footed glass vase (available {here} and {here} – mine is the medium size) that doubles as a hurricane candle holder:

A few other vases that I use all the time are this oversized round glass vase that I scored at HomeGoods (mirror behind it is available {here}):
this blue and white lidded ginger jar that I found at a thrift shop ({this lidded jar} is similar),
and {this pretty floral vase}:
Lanterns for Summer Dining
I love spending time outside on our patio in the summer and if I had to pick a favorite summer home decor piece I use on it, it would have be a pair of lanterns. A planter of flowers (I just snag one of my hanging baskets and clip off the hangers) flanked by two lanterns is a quick and simple outdoor table centerpiece that looks so pretty:
The exact gold wire lanterns I have in this pic are no longer available but {these lanterns} are a gorgeous similar option.
And did you know that you can get citronella pillar candles to use in them? I use to use those ugly short metal pails with citronella candles in them before I realized they came in pillar form that look just like the candles I normally use in my lanterns – I’m hooked! You can get a set of three 3″ x 6″ citronella pillar candles {here} and single candles in a variety of sizes and white or yellow colors {here}.
When we’re hanging out on our patio with family and friends, I also like to set up our outdoor bar cart as a drink station. Having a glass beverage dispenser such as {this one} that I fill with water and an infuser that has fruit and herbs (my favorite is a mix of lemon and mint) is a crowd pleaser for both kids and adults. Cute striped paper straws like {these} are a fun touch too!
I also make use of the bottom shelf of our bar cart, putting some chilled drinks in {this galvanized tub}:
Summer Pillows
It used to be that indoor outdoor pillows were scratchy and ugly but wow has that ever changed! Now there are a ton of options! These are a few of my favorites – can you tell that black and white and blue and white are my faves??
1. Diamond Pattern (set of 2) 2. Blue & White Stripe with Tasseled Ends 3. Sunbrella Shibori 4. Dark Blue Stripe 5. Textured Ivory 6. Navy Ikat 7. Navy Dotted Diamond 8. Shibori Indigo 10. Gray Geo Pattern 11. Black & White Stripe 12. Natural Tassel Trim
Outdoor Lounging Furniture
Having a shady spot to lounge outdoors and read a book or have a happy hour drink is the best! I recently bought {this acacia wood seating group} and love that you can use the seating as regular chairs with ottomans or push the ottomans up to use them as loungers:
{This set of baskets} and {this outdoor rug} complete the look!
Favorites that Feed My Ice Cream & S’mores Addiction
I’m going to cheat on this last one and add two of my favorite summer essentials that are about eating rather than decorating. My hands-down favorite summer food is lobster rolls – not the kind with mayo (if that’s your favorite, we might not be able to be friends…) – I’m all about the melted butter! But if we’re talking about food we make at home (we haven’t yet attempted to make our own lobster rolls), homemade ice cream is where it’s at! We have {this ice cream maker} that makes the most DELICIOUS ice cream:
Our favorite is peppermint ice cream that’s made with milk, cream, sugar, vanilla, mint leaves, and chopped up peppermint patties. Delicious! We just got it two summer ago and I wish I had pulled the trigger a whole heck of a lot longer ago than that!
And of course, I simply can’t leave out S’mores – love them! Last summer we got {these telescoping marshmallow roasting sticks} which are perfect for getting the job done without worrying about what animal might have peed on the stick you just grabbed out of the woods and put your marshmallow on (or is that just me…).
And they telescope out and back in so are way easier to store than the really long ones. We also keep a steady supply of popsicles on hand using {these Zipzicle Ice Pop Pouches} that you simply pour juice into, seal up, and throw in the freezer. My girls love them!
So there you have it – my five (plus a few extra) favorite summer essentials! I would absolutely love to hear about your summer favorites too – share away in the comments! And in case you want to be able to easily find this post later, I’ve gathered together my favorite summer home accessories I talked about in this post plus a few more and created a Pinnable image below so be sure to Pin it for later!
1. Woven Tray 2. Blue & White Ginger Jar 3. Textured Ivory Indoor/Outdoor Pillow 4. Blue & White Striped Indoor/Outdoor Pillow 5. Marble & Wood Cutting Board 6. Glass Hurricane Vase 7. Galvanized Tub 8. Blue & White Garden Stool 9. Globe String Lights 10. Brass Lantern 11. Palm Leaf Pillows 12. Ice Cream Maker 13. Blue & White Melamine Plates

Thank you so so much for having me today, Kris! As usual, I’m loving every single thing that you chose! I need that gold cuff and Landry would flip over those marshmallow roasting sticks! Cheers to the rest of Summer, friend! xoxo
So glad you were able to join us – I totally adore your style and loved check out your favorites!!!
Fun post. I love all the ideas. Thank you.
I’m glad you enjoyed it Vicki!
I love all of your summer favorites! The flowers from your garden are fabulous! I cannot wait to go and check out all of the links.
The wide leg cropped pants are one of my favorites as well.
So glad you enjoyed them! I’ve pretty much been living in those pants!
Those lanterns are great! I saw a similar one recently and talked myself out of it, but now of course I wish I had bought it! 😉 Love how easy those roasting sticks would be to store, we have a couple of giant ones and they’re a pain… now on my list! Great picks today Kris!
You would love those roasting sticks – we love them (and probably eat way more S’mores than we should as a result)! 🙂
I cannot get over how abundant your gardens are – the hydrangea bounty and also the mint in your backyard!! That is so awesome! Your outdoor table looks so pretty and how smart are you to use one of your hanging plants for a centerpiece? Love those lanterns you used in that tablescape too.
Thanks Lisa! Wish you were close enough that we could do some flower swapping – love what you have in yours!
Lovely picks! Can you please source the glasses that are in the picture with the beverage dispenser?
Thanks!
Hi Lori! Sure – those are Juliska Colette goblets that I picked up at their tent sale several years back!
I love your favorite summer outfit! White tee goes with everything and is so confortable!
Too bad these pants do not fit short girls like me!
Actually those pants come in petites! I’m fairly short too so that’s what I ordered 🙂
When I saw this I had to show it to the Mrs. thanks for all the great ideas!
Glad you enjoyed it and hope your wife does too!
Love the beverage dispenser. Thanks for sharing. Loved them all
Thanks Pam! I’m so glad you liked the post!
Love your summer décor. Many thanks for sharing the links to find all the lovely things. That is so helpful, especially if you live in a smaller area where shopping opportunities are limited.
Happy Summer Days to You and Yours !
Thank you so much! I hope you’re having a great summer too!
Kris,
Loved this post, your summer items were awesome! Love those roasting sticks, especially since mine are too long to store in our kitchen drawers! And the pants are definitely up my alley:) Adorable! I’m off to check them out now…
