IKEA’s new 2014 digital catalog landed in my inbox this week and I had the perfect rainy day to sit down with a cup of coffee and my laptop and take a look. Most of their new furniture pieces are from the STOCKHOLM collection, which is inspired by home furnishings from the ’50s and ’60s. This mid century modern collection was created with the intent of making timeless pieces with materials such as full grain leather, velvet, and walnut woods. Most of the upholstered and painted pieces are available in at least one neutral color but there are also options for going bright with yellows and greens:
It coordinates beautifully with this high-back armchair:
swivel easy chairs,
table and chairs,
glass cabinet (such a neat piece! It also comes in “beige” which looks more like a cream color),
and colorful flatwoven rugs.
There are also several new pieces outside of the STOCKHOLM line, including this KLIPPAN loveseat in a graphic black and white print:
IKEA always has the most ingenious furniture solutions for small spaces such as their new FRIHETEN corner sofa-bed. It can be used as a sofa with chaise,
with a large storage space under the chaise lounge:
IKEA has also revised their MICKE desk for 2014 – it now has integrated storage instead of a closed cabinet and is available in this fun pink and white color combo:
Some other new items that caught my eye are the FABIKOR glass door cabinet (which comes in three color options),
GULORT two-sided cushion cover,
ULLGUMP polka dot rugs,
and HJALMAREN wall shelf:
The 2014 items aren’t yet on IKEA’s website but they should all be in stores now or within the next few weeks. Did you see anything that you’re gonna add to your shopping list?
