Are you ready for the second Friday in the “File It Friday” series?? If you missed last Friday’s post, we began an “it’s a new year, let’s get organized” type project – creating a Home File where you can record everything about your home. I provided the first free printable (click here) that will go in your Home File – it’s for keeping track of the paint colors in your home, including the room painted and the paint color, brand, and sheen. You were also given a little homework assignment – did you get a binder and some dividers?? Excellent. Did you fill in your paint colors on your printable sheets?? Fabulous, me too.
Now let’s move on to the second tab in the binder – Home Repairs. This is going to be a THICK section in my Home File. I have a HUGE stack of receipts from all of the home repairs and improvements that we have done in the five years we’ve lived in this house. (When your electrician comes over to do a job and brings family photos from his recent Florida vacation to share with you, you know you’re in deep!) While it may be frightening to revisit these receipts and mentally add up the money we’ve spend on this house, it must be done! So without further ado, (click here) to get your free Home Repairs printable where you can record the date of the home repair, type of repair, person completing the repair, and the cost.
This printable is solely for home repairs – busted garbage disposal, leak in roof, etc. There will be a different printable on a future File It Friday for recording home improvements (new countertops, new recessed lighting, etc.). So your homework assignment for the next week is to gather all of your home repair receipts, organize them by date, and record the repairs on your Home Repairs printable. Print out a few extra sheets to keep in your file for recording future repairs.
I hope you’re enjoying some better weather than we are in Cincinnati, as it’s been all rain, rain, rain here. I’m hoping there’s a break in the rain this weekend, as I’m planing to take a trip up to IKEA with the fam to pick up an EXPEDIT shelving unit so that we can work on organizing the kids’ play area in the basement – hopefully I’ll have some before and after pics to share with you next week (beware, the before pictures will not be for the faint of heart!). Have a good one!
