Week 6 is normally One Room Challenge reveal time but thankfully an extra week was added on to the challenge because there’s still plenty of work to get done before my bonus & craft room makeover project is wrapped up! Lots of progress has been made since last week though – one of the biggest changes is that the boring builder’s beige walls aren’t so boring (or beige) anymore – ready to check it out? Hello beautiful wallpaper….
scroll and click/tap images below to shop this space:
What a HUGE difference it made! I used {this feather walllpaper} c/o Serena & Lily and couldn’t love it more! It brings a lot of fun, playful pattern into the space and mixes beautifully with the patterns we already had going on in the bedding and pillows. And P.S., while I know it must seem like I bribe Hope (aka my cutest accessory) to be in pretty much every picture I’ve taken of the daybed, the second I come up to work on this room she hops up into what she’s now claimed as “her spot” – I think her sisters are going to have their work cut out for them wrestling that plush throw away from her when we start putting this space to use again!
I was originally going to hang the wallpaper in the bonus room as well as the craft room but given that I hang wallpaper at a rate of like one strip an hour, I realized that I’d never make my room reveal deadline so I hired the hanging of this wallpaper out (such a treat!) but then hung the wallpaper in the craft room myself. It was only a single wall in the craft room that needed to be done so I couldn’t understand why my wallpaperer’s estimate for doing it was so crazy high until I was knee deep in the job. You guys, the ceiling height in that room is between about 3 1/2 to 5 feet depending upon where you’re standing (aka squatting in misery) and I wasn’t sure if I’d ever walk upright again after working on the wallpaper in that room for so many hours. But after finishing it, I decided it was totally worth the pain…
Good stuff right?! It’s {this Priano wallpaper} c/o Serena & Lily and I think it’s perfect for this whimsical space where my girls get all crafty and creative! The lighting in both the craft and bonus rooms got major upgrades too! My second small brass & acrylic accent lamp arrived for the craft room – these two are quite the lighting dynamic duo! And for the bonus room, {this gorgeous sputnik} c/o Lucent Lightshop arrived a few days ago and I installed it yesterday:
All the heart eyes! I’m not doing this poor light any favors by showing it half naked with only three of its fifteen bulbs but all I have on hand are 60 watters and I thought I might permanently blind myself if I put 15 of those babies in! New lower watt bulbs are en route from Amazon as we speak so I’m excited to see this beauty all properly dressed up for the big reveal!
And there’s one other new addition that you might have noticed in the background – the old 70’s-ish plaid shades came down and these crisp white and navy Roman shades c/o Windows by Melissa went up! Melissa came highly recommended to me by my good friend Kelley Nan and I now know why – not only are her shades impeccably made but she is the sweetest! And from very early on it was obvious why her Etsy shop is so highly rated – the customer service she provides is amazing and the cost of her shades (which are completely custom made to fit your window) is actually less than a lot of one-size-fits-all shades from a big box store. I always struggle with whether to go with inside- or outside-mount shades but I decided to do inside-mount for this space and was so glad I did – I love the more tailored look!
And just so you don’t get the impression from the pics I’ve shared that I’m totally done with this space and will be sitting on my butt for the next week just waiting for the reveal, there’s PLENTY (actually way more than plenty) left to do. If you just pivot 180 from this window view, you’ll see that there’s some serious DIY action still going on:
Nothing like waiting until the last week of the ORC to jump into a big ole time consuming DIY right? Well I couldn’t stand the gross yellowy color of the laminate cabinets in our craft room so I decided to paint them! After having such great success with painting the tile floors in our bathroom, I didn’t see why I couldn’t apply the same process to our dated craft room cabinetry. Right now I just have the primer coat on so I’ve got two coats of paint I’m hoping to get on tomorrow. I found the cutest ever knobs to put on the drawers!:
I found these little pretties {here} weeks ago and passed them up because they’re pricey but then they had a 25% off one-day sale and I couldn’t resist! So let’s hope this cabinet painting thing works so I can put these guys to use!
That’s it from me for this week! If you’re looking for me in the next seven days before the reveal, I’ll either be painting cabinetry, hanging the gallery wall over the daybed (finally), dragging all of the craft room stuff back up from the basement, adding some accessories and plants into the space, or one of the other zillion things still on my to-do list before next week’s reveal. Wish me luck!
If you’d like to check out what the other ORC linking participants are up to this final week, you can do that {here}! So many amazing rooms coming together! And if you were wondering about the source of anything that you see in my bonus or craft room spaces, here’s a complete source list for both:
Blue Vera Bradley Traveler’s Floral quilt (mine is twin size) | Matching Traveler’s Floral pillow sham | Vera Bradley Cabana Stripe tassel pillow | Blue & white block print pillow covers | White quilted Euro shams w/navy stitch | Daybed | Herringbone wallpaper | Watercolor leafy vine wallpaper | Roman window shades | Brass & acrylic table lamps | Brass floor lamp | Brass sputnik flush mount light fixture | White pom pom thro – no longer available but {this one} is similar | Dragonfly cabinet knobs
I love your wallpaper and your sputnik light fixture! Looks like the room is really coming together!!

It’s looking wonderful. I love the craft room wallpaper! The Vera Bradley cover on the daybed is great too. I didn’t know Vera Bradley made bed linens, so thanks for the lead.

Thank you Karen! The wallpaper and the bedding ended up “marrying” really well. I think my girls will really love their new hang out space!
I don’t think this could be any more beautiful, Kris!!! Love that we have the sources. Bravo!!!
Mary Ann
Thank you! Blue is my favorite color and I just love how you’ve used it.
Your craft space is beautiful. Can’t wait to see the finished product.
Hello,
What white paint color did you used for the bottom trim in the room with the serena and lily feather wallpaper? I have this wallpaper in my powder room and I’ve been unable to find the right shade of white.
Thanks, Kristie
Hi Kristie – the bottom of my walls were already painted white (I’m not sure of the color) but since it didn’t look good with the wallpaper, I covered them with one coat of Simply White. And honestly I think it’s just a so-so color match for the wallpaper – I just used it because I had a bunch left over but I think there’s probably a better white for it.
