This week marks our one year anniversary of moving to Connecticut! One thing we really lucked out on with our move was finding our house – we had a single house hunting weekend to find a home to buy or rent and we’re so lucky that this one happened to be on the market. We all liked it from day one but with every newly painted room, every DIY project, and every added bit of decorating, it’s felt more and more like home and a place that we love to be.
In celebration of our one year houseiversary, I though it’d be fun to take a look back to see what we’ve gotten done in the past year and also look ahead to what’s left to do.
Starting with our lone finished room and working our way down to the completely untouched ones, here we go:

Get piece of glass cut for top of chest of drawers

Master Bedroom

New pillow shams (I hijacked our shams for the guest room)

Yikes! I’ve got my work cut out for me, don’t you think? But who am I kidding – I’m looking forward to tackling my to-do lists like only a design & DIY obsessed girl would!
Hope you all have a great weekend! One of my best friends from Cincinnati and her family are going to be here visiting so I know it will be a fun one for us!

you have done a ton in a year- i am impressed! i love everything you’ve done! can’t wait to see more in the future! 🙂
Youve done a great deal and its beautiful! Well done!
Thanks you so much Jo Ann!!
I am in awe of all your progress in just 1 year! I’ve been in my home for 15 years and I am not even close to being done. It seems that blogging gives a person some extra incentive. Your home is lovely!!
It’s so, so true Jennifer – one of the reasons that I started blogging was to give myself some extra incentive to get things done on our house. And I’m sure that if we’re here more than 15 years, I’ll still be working on our house too!
You’ve done a ton during the first year. Everything looks fabulous. Such a great home.
Kris,
You have put so much love into your new home. Your tasteful colors and accessories make it so inviting! From a person who has made many job related relocations over the years, I know how much time, planning and personal energy it takes to reinvent each new home for your family. Now it’s time for you and your family to enjoy your beautiful home. xx
Sounds like you know all too well the challenges of moving your family and trying to make it feel like home even when it may not be your forever home. It’s so nice to have enough done on it that we can actually just enjoy it now. Thanks so much for your thoughtful comment!
Kris – Beautiful updates and work! I’m glad you shared the before photos as well. You’ve done so much in just a year – bravo!! Can you share the sources for the dining room platters and plates on the wall? Love those! Many thanks ~

Your home is so very beautiful home and yet still cozy! I hope my house looks this good a year from now!
Hi Kris!
It is amazing to see your progress in such a short period of time! Your home is absolutely beautiful – I love the bright colors that you chose for the tween bedroom and the craft room – and I love your office – all of it looks stunning!
Thanks so much Sheila! I has so much fun playing with color in those rooms!
Your home is beautiful Kris! You’ve made so much progress in a year and I can’t wait to see what else you come up with!
you’ve done amazing work….you have such a great house to work with!
also would love to know the color of your dining room?
Sometimes it is easy to let the “to do list” become the focus, however, when I look at your completed rooms and rooms in progress ….. well … wow. The completed rooms are amazingly wonderful and the inspirational fuel for the remaining to do.
So the plate wall in the dining room. sigh. L.O.V.E.
Enjoy the summer days!
Oh wow…so much accomplished in a year. It looks amazing!! Love that you have a craft room – great space!!
You have done so much on a year! I love how pulled together your rooms are and as for those “unfinished” rooms- what would we girls do without the possibilities that lie within?!
Girl, 1 year??!! You’ve gotten SO much done and should be so proud. I’m impressed. The guest room looks so pretty and you’ve done a great job on the office too. When can I come visit? I also noticed your Lily & Val coffee print in your kitchen – I have that too and love it! 🙂 Although some of your rooms don’t show as much progress as others, they still look put together in the photos (despite them not being your style necessarily).
I think you have done so much in one year. Seriously! The ‘before’s’ are not bad at all. I know it isn’t the way you want it, but it is definitely fine for now.
Happy anniversary!! You have accomplished so much in one year! I love your kitchen and dining areas, and those rooms you haven’t gotten to yet really aren’t bad. In fact, I kinda dig the chinoiserie wallpaper in your bathroom. 🙂
wow. you’ve accomplished so much. I love the idea of looking back and seeing all the changes. And your daughter is absolutely adorable!
Love that green in the Tween room!
Thanks Eileen – I have to give full credit to my daughter on the paint color – she wanted to go bold!
