Our old New England home has two fireplaces and they both get a lot of use because our winters are so wicked cold! Having moved from a home with only a gas fireplace, we needed to buy some fireplace accessories (tongs, log holder, etc.) pronto so I set out to find some stylish ones! (post contains affiliate links)
We recently redid our living room fireplace – you can read more about about {our remodeled fireplace here} including seeing some “before” and “after” pics and take a full tour of our living room {here}.
As you can see, I ended up going for something stylish but simple for our firewood by our living room fireplace and am using {this large basket} to hold logs:
Our kitchen fireplace is much easier since our log holder is built right in!
I’m still deciding on a new fireplace screen and tools for our living room but have narrowed it down to some favorites and thought I’d share my stylish fireplace finds with you guys:

What do you all think? Any favorites?
Hi ~ bought a new screen 2 years ago and after researching it forever, found the one u love at plow & hearth. It just looks durable and nice and every time someone walks in my living room they comment on the screen 🙂
That’s great that you found one that you love so much and looks beautiful in your space!! I was surprised to find how many beautiful ones are available nowadays!
Great roundup–I love that first screen! It looks so much like one I missed out on on OKL last week. 🙂 I cannot believe how cold and snowy it has gotten even before Thanksgiving this year. I am excited to decorate for xmas though!
I hadn’t even thought of looking on OKL for fireplace stuff – good idea! And yes, it’s too cold, too soon for sure….
How I miss a cozy fire. I love the fireplace screens you found!
You may be missing the actual fire but your fireplace is sooo amazing!!
My gosh..I don’t think I would survive in weather that cold after living in So.Calif all my life…i love your fireplace…its charming…It would look great in a country kitchen..
Trust me, I didn’t think I could survive CT winters either but I guess you do what you have to do! And thanks for the fireplace love – it is one of my favorite things about our house.
How great to have that fireplace in your kitchen! Cozy. 🙂 I love all your round up finds. I am looking forward to using our newly redone fireplace if we ever get off this burn ban. Guess that’s another plus of having a gas fireplace, maybe someday I’ll have one.
Really, you guys are on a burn ban? That’s a bummer when it’s starting to get his cold!
Kris, I love the log holder (of course). I love the fireplace in the kitchen. Lucky you! Craigslist is a great source for fireplace tools too. Ok, might be a dumb question, but I’m not much of a cook….Could you cook a pizza in that oven?
Great idea with CL! Our CL is so expensive that I’ve almost given up using it but something like fireplace tools can’t be that overpriced, right?! And your question about the kitchen fireplace isn’t a dumb one because we asked it when we looked at the house when it was for sale (I’m not a big cook either). Unfortunately, the word was that it’s just a plain ole wood burning fireplace – no pizzas allowed 🙂
Thanks for those ideas Kris, I have four fireplaces here at the house and am always looking for tools & screens!
Wow – four fireplaces! That’s lots of holiday mantel decorating 🙂
Love that fireplace screen, which I desparately need. Great post, very timely, since we have had our first week of fires at night and now we need some essentials, like a log carrier etc. Happy Thanksgiving Kris, stay warm! xo Nancy
I would be in for such a shock if we had to move where it’s cold. I can remember a Christmas here where we had the fireplace burning and the A/C on at the same time 🙂 Love the first screen and great find on the brass log holder! Really like the idea of the kitchen fireplace too…so cozy!
That’s so funny Becky. I have always said to my husband that there is NO WAY that I’m ever moving any farther north than Cincinnati but guess what? Here I am in New England. I’m not a lover of the cold – gotta work my way back down south at some point!
