I’ve been catching up on some of my favorite blogs over the past few days and as soon as I saw Sherry Hart’s newly redesigned guest room I fell in love! Hop on over to her blog, Design Indulgence, {here} for all the details and you’ll see why. One design element that caught my eye is the window treatment – since the headboard is so close to the window, Sherry pulled the drapes back to one side and used a simple rope tieback.
I have a similar layout in my bedroom and have yet to hang any drapes (I know, how very un-blogger of me…) so my wheels started turning about unique drapery tiebacks that I could use when I do finally get around to it. I found several cool ideas, including a simple combination of a swiveleye snap hook, key ring, and cord, as seen in Country Living:
Other ideas include converting a belt into a tieback (this could be really cool with the right belt!),

using a vintage doorknob (this actually isn’t a doorknob – it’s a tieback that used to be sold at Urban Outfitters – but it gives you an idea of what a doorknob tieback would look like!),
or even some antlers (ok, this idea isn’t one that I’d use in my home but it would be cool for a cabin):
Of course, I could skip the DIY route and simply buy some tiebacks – some of my favorites are Restoration Hardware’s Dakota Rope Tieback,

Restoration Hardware’s Estate Weathered Oak Post Tieback,
Urban Outfitters’ Plum & Bow Snowflake Curtain Tie-back
Urban Outfitters’ Antique Brooch Curtain Tie-back,
Urban Outfitters’ Fleur Curtain Tie-back,
and this cute Burlap Flower Curtain Tieback from Etsy shop “(re)design accessories”

The key ring and cord is kind of genius. So unexpected and affordable.
Agree!
I love the first image such a great idea for a tight space on the side of a window. Also love the weathered oak post tieback!
That’s the one that would fit best in my house too – love it!
Thanks so much for including my burlap tiebacks! Love your blog. 🙂
Thanks Amy! Right back at you – love your shop!
Sorry I am just seeing this….thanks for the shout! I love the RH rope tie backs…have used them twice! But you definitely showed some great ideas.
I love your idea of using a belt as a tie-back!
