Our foyer is pretty darn small – there isn’t enough space to put a chest or console or even a chair but something needs to be done to dress up this boring space. I started reconsidering an idea that I tossed around a few months ago – framing the front door with drapes much like they did in the 2012 Southern Living Idea House {here}. I think it would be a nice way to soften the space and I’d love to have the option of covering the sidelights of our front door when I want privacy. Here’s another beautiful image of an exterior door framed by drapes – what do you think?
Drapes can also be used to frame interior doors as shown in {this bedroom by Tara Seawright}. And how about a few really unique uses – I love the idea of framing a bookcase with tied back drapery panels – it instantly softens the space:
Drapery panels can also be used in place of doors to close off closets like in {this organized craft closet}. Pretty much any little nook in your home can be partitioned off with drapes to create a special space such as {this closet converted into an office}, this desk and hutch,
{this laundry room}, and this sweet reading nook:
Drapery panels can also be used to beautifully frame a bed like in {this bedroom} by Jessica Bennett Interiors.
Do any of you have drapes framing your entry door or use them anywhere else in your home other around your windows? Have a great weekend everyone!
I think my fav is when curtains are used to cover a laundry space ……I am not sure how I feel about using them in a foyer.
