Holiday Apothecary Jars

Happy new year!  Did you all have fun ringing in 2013? We went out with a group of close friends and had a fantastic time with lots of laughs (and a margarita or two...). Today was one of those rare relaxing days where we stayed in our PJs all day and never left the house. We played a few board games with the kids, emptied out the furniture from our home office in preparation for painting and refinishing the hardwoods (more on that in weeks to come!), and then got all of the Christmas decorations packed away until next year. I realized that I hadn't shared any pics of our holiday apothecary jars that sit on the distressed chest in our dining room. I change out the contents of this trio of apothecary jars depending upon the season/holiday - for Christmas I filled them with evergreen branches, mixed nuts, and ribbon candy:

I love the vibrant, festive colors of the ribbon candy - it's a fun, inexpensive jar and vase filler for the holidays (you can find it for $1/box at many dollar stores):

This is one holiday decoration that I decided not to put away - I'm leaving my apothecary jars out for a few more weeks so that we can snack on the nuts and yummy ribbon candy...

Where are you at in the process of un-decorating your home from the holidays? As much as I love the holiday season, it always feel good to get the house back to some semblance of order, doesn't it?!
