When we moved to Connecticut two summers ago, I assumed that I had landed in estate sale heaven. The first few months I went to an estate sale almost every week and my entire haul consisted of…a small brass pig. Yep, 10+ estate sales and only one brass pig. That I overpaid for. I found that unless you waited in line for at least an hour before the sale opened, most of the good stuff was gone and what was left was overpriced.
So I’ve had to find other ways to feed my vintage-treasure-hunting soul, one of which is Everything But The House (EBTH). Have you guys heard of them? EBTH is an online estate sale site (translation: no driving, no waiting in lines, no stress about making a split second decision buying something) where literally everything but the house is for sale – furniture, accessories, art, jewelry, etc. And the starting bid for every single item? Just $1. EBTH has online sales from estates in more than ten large cities with more on the way. You can search for sales in a city close to you for local pickup or search all of their sales and have them ship your purchase directly to you. And my favorite part is that you can search for specific finds that you have your heart set on.
I’m excited to have partnered with EBTH to show you guys a little more about how I use their site and to offer a giveaway for a $100 EBTH credit! The way that I use EBTH is pretty simple – if I find a certain item in an interior design image that inspires me, I use their search box to see if I can find something similar. EBTH shows search results for both current and past sales so even if they don’t currently have the item you’re looking for, you can see whether they’ve had it in the past and, if so, what it sold for. Like, for example, this amazing mantel that’s decorated with beautiful breadboards:

My EBTH search showed that these two round dough boards were sold through a sale just last week:
And how about this gorgeous bird house that was part of Jennifer’s Easter table:

This architectural walnut birdcage that sold on EBTH is it’s kissing cousin:
If you saw this image and were inspired to find a vintage trunk to use as a coffee table,

this vintage steamer trunk from an EBTH sale last month would have been perfect:
You all know that I have a thing for elephants, right? So of course I’ve been keeping my eye out for a reasonably priced elephant side table/stool like this one:

Guess what popped up on EBTH this week? This set of three ceramic garden stools – I love all of them but especially that elephant!
And don’t forget about larger furniture pieces too! I’ve long been in love with Joan’s beautiful breakfast room:

and found that this similar oak pedestal dining table on casters sold for just a little over $50 earlier this month:
Ready to get shopping? I’ll give you a head-start by sharing my favorite finds that are currently available on EBTH (at least for today! some of the sales end as early as Tuesday):
