    DIY Scrunchie Holder

Looking for an idea for a DIY scrunchie holder? This one is super simple and works great!

With two daughters, we have no shortage of hair bands and scrunchies. In fact, you can find a handful in pretty much any room in our house. To bring some organization to the chaos, I created the simplest DIY scrunchie holders with inexpensive mailers and a few scraps of fabric. Are you ready for the quick and easy details? (post includes commissionable links; for more information, see my full disclosure statement {here})

Start with a few 2″ mailing tubes such as {these} that come in a pack of two. You can leave them their full length or cut them shorter with an X-ACTO knife if you want to be able to stand them up in a drawer that’s shallower than your tube.

Then, if you want to add a little color or pattern to your scrunchie holder, cover it with fabric. Simply cut a small piece of fabric that’s about 1-2″ longer than the tube, wrap it around the tube,

tuck the extra fabric on each end into the tube, and then put the plastic end caps back on to hold the fabric in place. Done!

If there are multiple girls in your house, consider covering each mailing tube with a different fabric so it’s obvious whose scrunchie holder is whose:

The size of these gift mailers works perfectly for hair elastics and scrunchies – the 2″ diameter of the tubes is large enough that the hair bands stay in place but small enough that you can get any of the bands on or off without moving the others.

While they aren’t nearly as sturdy, if you don’t want to pay for the mailers you could also use the center of a paper towel roll or toilet paper roll.

If you want to buy instead of DIY, a few favorite options include {these acrylic scrunchie holders} or {this metal scrunchie holder}.

And if you want a simple way to just store hair bands, I’ve found that an inexpensive 2″ binder ring like one of {these} works beautifully:

I mean it works alright but if you want to get a scrunchie or a hair tie and it’s in the middle than you have to take everything that is in the way of the scrunchie and than get the scrunchie out than you have to put everything back on it.

Depending on how tall the container is, it can be used for storing combs in.

Thanks for the comment – the blue and white ikat print is from Hobby Lobby. I’m not sure about the gray one – it was one that I had in my bin of fabric scraps!

What a great idea Kris, my 2 x 12 year old girls’ bathroom draws look exactly the same! I have put different sized storage containers in the draws which sort of helps and looks great for about a week, then its all mixed up again, mine don’t take after me either!! Im off to ikea today to buy some more organisation containers, cupboards, shelves etc… for my laundry! Im excited!! haha

I actually hadn’t thought of IKEA for organizational stuff but I bet there are some great finds there. You’ll have to blog about what you come home with!

So cute and neat. I would have thought of the mailers — but certainly would not have thought to cover with fabric.
Organization at your house is not only neat and clean but obviously very attractive. Oh my, I need to get busy looking at my closets and drawers.
