When most people are looking for a house, they want a new or recently remodeled kitchen that’s move-in-ready. But when we were house hunting last year, I was actually hoping to find a house with great bones but an ugly, dated kitchen that I could gut and remodel to create exactly what I want. Somehow I ended up with something in the middle – a kitchen that’s nice and definitely good enough to live with but no where near to being my dream kitchen. And the reality is that there’s no way that a major kitchen remodel is happening any time soon. I’m sure a lot of you are in the same boat of liking but not loving your kitchen, right?
So what’s a girl (or guy) to do? A good bet is to keep your eye out for decorative accents that are going to add style and interest to your kitchen without spending the big bucks. And right now, the kitchen accents that I seem to be most drawn to are copper ones. You can bring copper into your kitchen with new pendant lighting like in this gorgeous kitchen (I love how it mixes so easily with other metals):
or flush mount lighting over the kitchen sink (I love how they also used copper canisters on the countertop to tie the color in):
It can also be as simple as adding a grouping of copper pots, whether they’re hanging from a pot rack over your kitchen island or from a wall mounted rack over the range like in this beautifully designed kitchen:
If you want to go all out, you could add a copper range like this beauty or you could stick with the range you have and simply display some pretty copper pots and other bakeware on open shelving. This stunning kitchen is a great example of both:
And I absolutely love the look of a copper sink with white cabinets and dark countertops:
What do you guys think – do you love the look of copper too or are you more into other types of metals (brass? venetian bronze? silver?)? Here are a few of the copper accents that I’ve been eyeing (links to items are located below the image and include some affiliate links):
I’m especially loving those knives – don’t be surprised if you see them making an appearance on my kitchen countertop sometime soon! I’ve actually got lots of small changes coming in the kitchen and hopefully will have some new updated pics to share before the summer’s over… stay tuned!
