    Tabletop Decor Ideas: Five Favorites!

I love creating a pretty table so thought it would be fun to share my favorite tabletop decor ideas. These are the ideas I put on repeat time and time again when I want to make a killer tablescape! Let’s get to it… (post includes commissionable links; for more information, see my full disclosure statement {here})

    1. Ground Your Plates With Woven Chargers

The simple addition of woven chargers to a table can take it from kinda pretty to knock-out beautiful! The chargers that I go back to time and time again when decorating a table top are woven chargers. I love the contrast between the hard surfaces of plates and the warm chunky texture of the chargers:

Easy to make dough tags tied onto mini pumpkins are part of this pretty fall tablescape
Fall place setting with mini cutting boards, ribbon, and a sprig of greenery on plates with woven chargers.

You can find woven chargers similar to mine {HERE} and {HERE}.

I also have {these lighter woven chargers} that I use frequently:

Love these gorgeous woven chargers! Source linked in blog post!

    2. Create a Beatiful Centerpiece With a Simple Bowl

A large bowl in the center of the table is one of the easiest centerpieces but also one of the prettiest. I love that it always seems to work no matter what the season or what you place in your bowl.

Your bowl filler can be as simple as some fresh peaches from the grocery store for a fall tablescape:

Peaches make a stunningly simple fall centerpiece - post includes link for that pretty wood bowl

or a simple arrangement of fresh flowers (I place a waterproof glass bowl inside this wood one):

Fill a bowl or vase with a mix of ranunculus and wax flowers for a beautiful, simple spring table decoration!

If you want a live centerpiece that will last and last, consider filling a bowl with succulents:

This round wood planter is gorgeous!!

Here are a few beautiful bowl options:

    3. Add a Pair of Glass Hurricane Vases

Instead of a single bowl as a centerpiece, I also love the look of two identical vases down the center of the table. My all-time favorite going on ten years now is a pair of {these glass hurricane vases} that I’ve used on a ton of my holiday tables. They are the perfect height and width for holding any type of blooms or branches you place in them:

Slice lemons to line a vase for a beautiful, simple spring table centerpiece!
A mix of white flowers, red berries, and eucalyptus make up this festive holiday table floral centerpiece
Easter table with vases of tulips and bunny decor
My favorite footed glass vase - perfect for fresh flower bouquets!

While these babies aren’t exactly cheap, I love and use mine constantly so they’re been worth every penny!

    4. Add Interest With a Table Runner

Adding color and pattern with a table runner makes any tabletop more interesting! Some of my favorites include my black and white buffalo check table runner similar to {this one},

Tall tablescape with sunflowers in a wood bowl, black and white buffalo check table runner and sunflowers in teacups
Holiday placesetting with floral centerpiece, pomegranate place cards, silverware tied with ribbon, buffalo check runner, and festive plates

my DIY macrame table runner made with ticking stripe fabric similar to {this runner},

Beautiful table runner that's a DIY with macrame fringe added to ends

and {this scalloped table runner} that comes in several color options:

    Scalloped table runner

    5. Have Fun With Your Napkins

I love, love, love patterned fabric napkins and while it’d be fun to have new ones for every season, that’s just not realistic so instead I change things up by using the same ole napkins but in different ways.

One option is to create a triple fold with your napkins and tuck the silverware inside the folds:

Love how the napkins are folded to hold the silverware! Such a cute and simple idea!

For a casual tablescape (it’s great for outdoor dinners) you can roll your silverware in napkins and tie them with a pretty ribbon. This is also a great way to do things when you’re hosting a buffet so your guests can just grab a rolled bundle in the buffet line.

Use a hanging planter as a simple outdoor dining centerpiece! One of the tips for simplifying summer in this post!

Another simple option is to tie your napkins in a loose knot and place them on the side of each plate which I do for this Thanksgiving table:

Napkin knotted on side of plate - an idea that could be used for Christmas table decor

You can even get really creative with your napkins for special holidays. For example, you can fold napkins in the shape of bunnies for Easter using {these simple instructions}: It’s one of my favorite Easter table decor ideas:

Napkins folded into the shape of bunny ears - perfect for decorating your Easter table

That wraps up my five favorite tabletop decor ideas! If you want another idea for prettying up your dining table, check out my post on how to make a greenery table runner.

Kris, I love your table. The wooden bowl has really caught my eye. If you don’t mind, where would I find one very similar to it? It would fit just perfectly in my own home.

Great picks Kris. I just recently bought new chargers for our kitchen. They are similar to the PB ones and are from World Market. Great price, especially on sale. I’ve had my eye on that wood bowl, and now may be the time to grab it.

Nope, not tired of that wood bowl! 🙂 I can’t believe I don’t have any woven chargers, they add such great texture to all of your beautiful tables! And, that fringe on your table runner ~ very clever and looks so high end!

Hi Nataliya – I don’t remember and I’m not home right now to measure but the ones that I linked to in my post are the same size as mine – I double checked the size when I wrote the post before creating the link!

      Kris,
What a fun post. I love the Ikea placemats at that price point. You’ve done a great job with your dining room overall and your table in particular. It’s so great to be able to use some anchor pieces over and over with different items in them. I love it! The Juliska hurricanes are wonderful and I’ve always admired them with tall branches and flowers in them.
I’m off to visit the other talented ladies in this series.
