Looking for a beautiful glass top desk? I’ve rounded up my favorites to help you create a stylish home office!
I love the look of glass top desks – since they don’t take up much visual space, they make a room feel larger than if you used a traditional wood desk. Glass top desks also have a more modern, stylish edge to keep your office from looking dull and overly traditional. After going on a hunt for the perfect glass desk I’ve narrowed it down to these favorites… (post includes affiliate links – disclosure statement available {here}).

Do Glass Top Desks Scratch Easily?
Glass is a very hardy material that’s known for its durability when used as part of a desk. In fact sometimes people have a piece of glass custom cut to lay on top of a wood desk to protect the wood, which is much more prone to damage. That being said, glass top desks are not completely impervious to scratches but most scratches that occur are minor surface scratches that aren’t very visible unless you’re looking for them up close. If you want to keep your glass top as pristine as possible, consider using a clear desk pad such as {this one} in the main area of the desk that you do work on.
Are Glass Top Desks Safe?
Glass top desks are most often made of tempered glass, which is stronger than standard glass and more resistant to breaking. If tempered glass does break, it shatters into tiny pieces that should do no harm. Of course even if a tempered glass top breaks and causes no personal harm from the glass, you don’t want your desk breaking and taking everything on your desk with it. Glass desks can handle varying levels of weight depending upon the type of glass they’re made of and how it’s supported (for example, whether there’s a center support). Consider the max weight of your desk when choosing a desk, especially if you have a heavy monitor and other computer equipment.
Other Glass Desk Pros & Cons
Other reasons for choosing glass top desks are that they’re easy to clean, they provide an entirely smooth surface for writing (unlike some wood desks), and they don’t stain. One con of glass top desks is that they stay colder than other surfaces like wood (which may or may not be an issue for you depending on whether you like to rest your arms on it). Also, you can leave visible fingerprints on glass more easily than other desk materials.
