Acrylic coffee tables are perfect for adding style to your space without a lot of visual weight. I bought one several years ago for our family room and it’s been one of my most complimented on furniture pieces in our home. It’s also the furniture piece that I get the most questions about, including whether it scratches easily, how to clean it, and more. Today I’m sharing all of my favorite acrylic coffee tables plus answering all of your FAQs! (post includes affiliate links – disclosure statement available {here}).
Favorite Acrylic Coffee Tables
Let’s kick things off with the acrylic coffee table I have in our own home:

I’ve styled it with a large painted gray wood tray filled with some favorite coffee table books, a decorative box that holds our extra remotes, and a few accessories that I change up seasonally.
My exact acrylic coffee table is no longer available, but I have several current options to share. They range in price from about $400 to several thousand. Starting at the lowest end of the price range are acrylic coffee tables with a super simple waterfall design such as {these peekaboo acrylic coffee tables}. They’re ½″ thick molded acrylic with seamless curved edges:

Also check out {this similar acrylic coffee table option}. At a little higher price point is {this modern minimalist 42″ x 24″ acrylic coffee table}:

I love the design of the legs and, like my acrylic table, it has an acrylic base and frame with a clear glass top.
Another stunner is {this rectangular acrylic coffee table} that’s a blend of stainless steel, plastic, and acrylic. It’s available with either silver or gold accents:

{This Oscarine rectangular coffee table} is slightly smaller but has a very similar look with a cast brass base:

On the more expensive end, I absolutely love {this Soho coffee table} that has a chunky slab design. Unlike some of the less expensive options, the top of this coffee table is thick acrylic instead of glass:

Do Acrylic Coffee Tables Scratch Easily?
Most acrylic coffee tables have an acrylic frame and legs with a glass top that can withstand a lot of wear and tear. However, there are some acrylic coffee tables that are fully acrylic, including the top. An acrylic top is definitely more prone to scratches than glass so utilizing coasters, trays, and other protective pieces to minimize scratching is recommended.
The acrylic frame and legs of a coffee table can get scratched regardless of the material of the top of the table. However, mine have worn really well and are essentially scratch-free after years of use. Things might be different if we still had little kids that were rough with it (for ex, running play cars up and down it) – in this case, an acrylic coffee table might not be your best choice.
If you find that you have any fine scratches on your acrylic coffee table {this fine scratch remover} works great for removing them.
How Do You Clean Acrylic?
You have to be careful when cleaning acrylic because ammonia-based glass cleaners can cause the acrylic to get cloudy and will ruin your beautiful furniture piece. I typically clean the acrylic portions of my coffee table with nothing more than a damp microfiber cloth (avoid using a cloth that has been used to clean other surfaces, since it could still have ammonia residue). A mild, clear soap and water mix (followed by wiping off with plain water) also does the job. You can also buy cleaners that are specially made for acrylic surfaces such as {this acrylic cleaner}.
What is the Difference Between Acrylic and Lucite?
Lucite is a brand name for a specific type of high-quality acrylic. So all Lucite is acrylic but not all acrylic is Lucite. If you’re buying a coffee table that’s made of Lucite, you’re getting the best possible quality for transparent furniture.

I have been inlove with them for years and I am definitely getting the Wisteria Console when my budget allows eventually! Did you see my IG post on that Acrylic side table I spied at Hobby Lobby?
Kris Jarrett says
No, I didn’t (I am so behind on my blog reading!) – I will have to check it out. Thanks Vel!

I have loved acrylic anything for many years. I have a treasured ghost chair at my desk and we are using acrulic throughout my daughter’s upcoming wedding. Ghost chairs at the sweetheart table, an acrylic box to drop cards in, an acrylic cake stand and an acrylic “love” sign. I tried to find an acrylic table to use at the altar for the candle lighting service but none are available in my area. Darn! Love all the examples you showed…thanks!

Oops – sorry about that last reply – I was replying to the wrong comment 🙂 Your daughter’s upcoming wedding sounds like it’s going to be AMAZING!! I hope it’s a beautiful day for you both!

That’s a good question Karen – I’ve never owned a piece of acrylic furniture so I can’t speak to how easily it scratches but it does seem like it’s a material that would do that. I noticed that for some of the pieces like the table and coffee table, the top is glass – maybe that’s why!

I love those CB2 dining chairs. I honestly would never use it in my own home but love the look!

I don’t think I could get away with using acrylic chairs in my home either (as much as I love them!) but I would totally use an acrylic console or coffee table!

I always dream about an acrylic coffee table. The top is glass off course. It prevents scratches. Those pictures shows the beauty of acrylic furniture. Love it.
Kris Jarrett says
Me too Hailey! Just love it!

Lovely, I love the bar cart but am I the only one who can see damaged shins from acrylic coffee tables, the corners look devilish.
Kris Jarrett says
I would guess that you’re right Lindsey and that it’s pretty similar to metal edged coffee tables that you wouldn’t want to have with little ones in the house!

That first photo of the side table is so pretty…..I love it. I keep seeing a smallish lucite waterfall edge desk at Homegoods and cant believe it hasn’t been snatched up yet. I wish I had space to use it as a vanity in my room or my daughter’s room. Cant wait to see the room makeovers you are planning!!
