Want ideas for decorating with apothecary jars? I share my eight favorite ways to use them throughout your home!
Apothecary jars are some of the most versatile decor pieces you can buy for your home! I love decorating with apothecary jars seasonally by changing up what they hold to create new looks. And they’re also perfect for everyday decor in your bathroom, dining room, and other spaces throughout your home. They come in all sorts of unique shapes and sizes and can be found at very reasonable prices too.
Today I’m sharing eight of my favorite ideas for decorating with apothecary jars to help you find new ways to use them to add beauty to your home! (post includes commissionable links; for more information, see my full disclosure statement {here}).
What Are Apothecary Jars?
Apothecary jars are wide-mouthed lidded jars that can be found in a variety of beautiful shapes. Originally they were used to store herbs and drugs at apothecary shops and were made with various materials including ceramic, wood, and glass. Today’s apothecary jars are traditionally glass and are used for a much wider variety of purposes, both practical and decorative including…
Apothecary Jars in the Bathroom
I love to use apothecary jars in bathrooms! One of my favorite bathroom decor ideas is to use them to hold bath salts, sponges, or soaps next to your bathtub:
I especially love the look of {this jar} filled with bath salts where a shell was added to use as a scoop:
Apothecary jars can also be beautiful on bathroom vanities such as {these jars} holding cotton balls, Q-tips, and other little pretties:
If you don’t have a lot of counter space, stacked apothecary jars one of my favorite small bathroom storage ideas (and I love the look of them too!):
Apothecary Jars in the Kitchen
I also have several ideas for decorating with apothecary jars in your kitchen. You could use them as canisters, filling them with ground coffee, sugar, and flour or you could change up the contents seasonally. I love the fresh look of these jars filled with oranges, lemons, and limes that would be gorgeous in your kitchen or on a dining table (you could use faux citrus if it was for daily decor) for spring:
In the fall they could be used filled with apples, pears, and fall florals.
Apothecary Jars as Centerpieces
Another idea is to use them as part of a centerpiece as was done on this beautiful table with apothecary jars filled with water and floating florals:
Large apothecary jars can also make beautiful vases when their lids are removed. While {this footed vase} that I love to use on our dining table isn’t an apothecary jar, it can give you an idea of how to get the same look by using one:
Holiday Themed Apothecary Jars
There are so many unique ways of decorating with apothecary jars for the holidays! Years ago I decorated three apothecary jars for Easter, filling them with burlap bunnies, colorful eggs, and a faux bird nest:
And for simple Christmas decor, I’ve filled apothecary jars with treats like peppermints, marshmallows, and gingerbread men:
Or as a completely different look, I’ve filled the with colorful ribbon candy, nuts, and greenery:
Wondering where to shop for apothecary jars? I love {this set of 3 apothecary jars}, {these apothecary jars} for a bathroom, and {these apothecary jars} that come in a variety of shapes and sizes.
