    One Chair, Two Different Fabrics

Our home office is sooo close to being done – a few weeks ago I got our new drapes and hardware hung up (you can see an Instagram sneak peak {here} – full post to come!) and I’m working on getting our desk better organized and accessorized. The big sticking point is our office chairs. I’ve found a great wingback chair for our main office chair (I’m just waiting for it to go on sale) but the plan is to have two smaller chairs on the other side of the desk and I haven’t had much luck finding those. I’m hoping for inexpensive Craigslist finds that I can reupholster with two fabrics – one fabric on the chair seat and a different coordinating fabric on the back. Something like this beautiful desk chair by COCOCOZY,

I’m pretty sure that my love for chairs with different fabrics on each side dates back to when I first saw these fabulous wingbacks that Lauren Liess designed for the 2011 D.C. Design House. The bold green fabric that she used on the back might be a little overpowering if used for an entire chair but with a neutral fabric on the front it’s perfection:

I also recently got lost in Chairloom’s portfolio of reupholstered armchairs – they have some amazing dual fabric wingbacks such as this stunner:

Along with loving the look of using two fabrics on a chair, it can also be a pretty practical choice. If your all-time favorite fabric is $$$, you might not be able to afford enough fabric to reupholster an entire chair but buying less than a yard to upholster the back of a chair might just be doable! It can also be a good route to go if your favorite fabric isn’t all that durable – you can choose something that will hold up well on the chair seat and put that show-stopping, not-so durable fabric on the back. It’s a great way to mix practical with beautiful, especially for dining chairs.

So what do you guys think – is the whole two fabric thing a look that you love?
