After killing two expensive fiddle leaf fig trees, I decided to go faux and am sharing the best faux fiddle leaf figs I found!
Is it possible for a plant to be in style? Well if it is, the fiddle leaf fig would be #1 on the list! They are gorgeous and add so much color and life to a room! I prefer living plants to faux when possible but as hard as I’ve tried, I can NOT keep a fiddle leaf fig alive. I bought a living fiddle leaf fig for my family room and LOVED it – it looked like this right after I got it:
But week after week it lost more leaves and I was never able to nurse it back to health. I tried a second time with the same result and since these trees aren’t cheap, that’s when I knew it was time to go faux. I checked out every single faux fiddle leaf fig on the market, and found that you get what you pay for. Here’s the low-down (affiliate links included – full disclosure statement available {here}).
Most Realistic Fiddle Leaf Fig Tree
I chose the most realistic of the fiddle leaf fig tree options which is {this fiddle leaf fig tree}. It’s not cheap but since I had already spent that much on two trees that were now dead, I went for it and am so glad I did – I LOVE how it looks:
Mine is the 6.9 footer and it’s quite tall and full. The leaves are very realistic! When you’re up really close to the tree, the trunk of the tree doesn’t look as realistic as I’d like but I found that was the case with every faux fiddle leaf fig tree out there. It comes wrapped in a small burlap base – I put in in {this same woven basket} that I had my real fiddle leaf fig tree in and love the look:
Fiddle Leaf Figs at Home Depot
Home Depots are a great place for finding real fiddle leaf figs but they don’t always have them. They tend to be seasonal and come in stock in spring and summer so that’s the best time to look. Also, we have multiple Home Depot stores around us and there is one that tends to get them much more often than the others so you might find it worthwhile to call around and ask if you have more than one Home Depot store in your area. And believe it or not, if you want to first try your hand at a small fiddle leaf fig, you can buy them online from Home Depot {here} and {here}. The reviews are surprisingly good!
Like these ideas. I’m only left with 1 jade plant now that I have kiddos who like to dig and very little “up high” space. I’m going to put it in a more decorative container now!
I totally get that – my kids knocked one of my plants over onto the carpet when they were little and that was the end of plants at my house for years!
I just love greenery. I have a mix of silk lambs ear and some real plants. If my live plants last a month – I’m doing great, too! I just found your blog via Pinterest – your burlap backed bookcase post. Loving it!
Glad I’m not alone in my ineptitude with plants! Thanks for reading Holly!
Love the space it looks gorgeous! What size basket did you buy for your fiddle tree? Your link sends me to all three sizes. I am hoping I can get an order in for their family & friends event. Love following your blog!
Kris, I just got a 6 foot faux fiddle leaf from QVC for $79.00 and its great! Not as full as yours, but is exactly right in it’s spot.
Love your tree! Did you get the Large or XL Basket?
