Hi guys! Just checking in to share the reason behind the blog being so quiet this week – I just returned from a road trip to Cincinnati for the closing of our old house. Monday morning I walked out the door for the last time:
and handed over the key to the new owners! Definitely a bittersweet time for our family but I think that letting go of our old house is going to help us move forward and start putting down deeper roots in CT (and I sure won’t miss the 22-hour round trip from CT to Cinci!).
We put a ton of work into the house during the seven years we lived there – some of my favorite transformations were our family room which went from this:
to this:
our home office which went from this:
to this (I was so sad to leave that great bookcase behind!):
our girls’ bathroom that went from this:
to this:
and most recently our kitchen which went from this:
to this:
Thanks for indulging me with this little look back 🙂 Now let’s look ahead – I’ve got a ton of projects cooking at our current house that I can’t wait to finish off and share with you guys!
Oh, and one last thing – did you guys hear that Target has plans to try out an in-store bar in one of their Chicago stores? As if you and I needed another reason to shop at Target…
Want to see more pics from our old and new houses? Check out my house tours {here}!
congrats to you!!! woohoo!
Thanks Cassie! The whole process of selling our house has been so time consuming that even though I’m sad to let it go, it’s a huge weight off my shoulders!
You did a wonderful job transforming this house into a beautiful home!!
Darlene
Thank you Darlene!
I loved your house. If I had been a potential buyer, I would have walked in, looked at those beautiful rooms and said “I’ll take it!”
Thanks so much Sandy!!
I’m sure this is a bittersweet transition, but I’m looking forward to your new home projects. Have a great weekend Kris!
Thanks Rene – definitely bittersweet but also definitely time to move on…
It’s such a bittersweet moment isn’t it? Congratulations on getting you beautiful home sold! Cheers to the moments ahead!
Thank you Vel! Bittersweet for sure!
Such a beautiful home! Love all the transformations. Looking forward to seeing your projects at your current home. Happy Weekend!
Thanks Becky!
Kris, Lucky people who bought your house. I think you did an amazing job with it. Hope your back to school transition has been easy. We seem to be in a routine now.
Thank you! It went to the sweetest young family who I hope will love it as much as we did! We’ve had a pretty uneventful back to school transition this year (knock on wood). Glad you have too!
Were you able to sell the chandeliers from your old house. I bought from Pottery Barn several years ago a chandelier like yours…at that time the “crystals” were plastic. If you happen not to sell your crystals I would be interested in buying them.
Barbara
Hi Barbara! Yes, we ended up selling both of our chandliers. I’m surprised that Pottery Barn had cheap plastic ones on the chandelier you bought. Ours were definitely glass!
Going back is so difficult, now it is closed you can look forward to the future in your new home and city. We left Australia for England leaving our home in rental hands. With hindsight we should have sold so that we could focus on our new life without the ‘baggage’ of a much loved home. Good luck and cheers to your future in your new home.
You know EXACTLY how I feel! It’s hard to make a new life in one place when you’ve still got such physical ties to your old one – we’re glad to be moving forward!
House is sooo pretty. Lucky new owners. Can’t imagine a bar in Target–after a glass of wine I’m pretty sure I’d need a U-haul to get everything home!!! Wait–that’s the point, isn’t it??!!????. Have fun!
LOL! Yep, those Target execs are no dummies 🙂
Kris,
Wow, you really did a beautiful job on your OH house. I loved the bookcase in the office and the addition of the stone in the family room was amazing. I love your CT house and I’m sure it will continue to shine with your great ideas and style.
xo,
Karen
Thanks Karen! Now that we know we’re staying in this house for a while, I’m looking forward to really making it our own! 🙂
What color is the front door/shutters? I just love it!
What shade is your front door/shutters? Love it!
Hi Lindsay – the color is Sherwin Williams Roycroft Bronze Green. Sorry it took me so long to get back to you!
