    Scoring Big at Juliska’s Tent Sale

    I was introduced to Juliska a few years ago by a friend who went on and on about how gorgeous their dinnerware was. Several months later I came across a Juliska dinnerware display while shopping for a wedding gift and saw what she meant – it is absolutely stunning:

    Saks Fifth Avenue
    Neiman Marcus

    If you haven’t heard of Juliska before, it may be because it’s a relatively new company that was founded in 2001. Juliska describes itself as a “dynamic, design-led company committed to bringing elegant European design to our modern homes”. Their creations are gorgeous, timeless, and exceptionally made.  They are probably best known for their ceramic dinnerware & serving pieces, which are not only beautifully designed but freezer, oven, microwave, and dishwasher safe. So you can use them as your everyday dishes or keep them as your “good dishes” for dinner parties and holidays (without ever being stuck in the kitchen for hours hand washing dishes after the meal). (post includes affiliate links – full disclosure statement {here})

    My favorite Juliska stoneware ceramic collections are Country Estate,

    {Neiman Marcus}

    Jardins du Monde,

    Neiman Marcus
    {Bloomingdales}

    and Berry and Thread

    {Neiman Marcus}

    Juliska also has beautiful mouth blown glassware,

    hand pressed glassware,

    flatware,

    lighting,

    {Juliska}

    and table linens:

    A while back I had read about Juliska’s amazing warehouse sales and how people drive from hours away to take advantage of the great deals. At that time, I looked into the location of the warehouse sales to see if it was a doable day trip from Cincinnati but it was in New England, which was definitely too long of a haul. Now that we’re living in Connecticut, last week I looked into it again and found that not only was Juliska’s flagship store and tent sale location under 30 mins away (in Stamford, CT) but there was currently a warehouse sale in progress!

    So of course I was there the next day. It was overwhelming. So. Much. Beautiful. Stuff. Piles and piles of plates and serving pieces in all of my favorite patterns:

    Most of the tent sale items are either discontinued items or “seconds” that have minor flaws but I found that if you take some time looking through the pieces you can find ones with no obvious flaws or ones with flaws so minor that you would never have noticed them if you weren’t looking.

    They have Daily Deals throughout the tent and also lots of Silly Deals such as these stylish mugs which I picked up for $5 each:

    I also went with another, much bigger Silly Deal and bought two Country Estate starter sets:

    For $168 ($99 per set plus an extra 15% off the day I went), I got 8 dinner plates, 8 salad/dessert plates, 8 pasta/soup bowls, 2 large serving bowls, 2 pitchers, and 8 Colette footed goblets. I added up the retail amount of the Juliska pieces that I had just spent $168 on and it was…$1928. I saved over 90% off retail. Unbelievable.

    While I don’t think you can beat the warehouse sale for scoring big on Juliska, there is also a Juliska outlet store (right next to Juliska’s Stamford store) called Barry & Fred that is open daily. Barry & Fred has a large selection of discontinued items and seconds that are sold at up to half off of retail. Definitely worth a trip if you can’t make one of the warehouse sales!

        Yes, I’m looking forward to using my new plates for Thanksgiving – just hoping that I get my dining room ready in time – I’m in the middle of a bunch of projects in there right now and it’s a big torn up mess!

        Hi Ann,
        I would give the store Barry & Fred in Stamford, CT a call – they are the discount Juliska store that sells 2nd quality pieces for a huge discount. I’ve found that usually the issues that make them 2nd quality are very small and only noticeable if you’re looking for them. Barry & Fred will ship anywhere so give them a try!
