|Garnet Hill Dog Bed Collection|
We are a family of dog lovers and have a boston terrier (“Hope”) that we all adore. As our friends and family can attest, she is 100% spoiled and can usually be found on a lap or snuggled in one of our arms.
When we adopted Hope two years ago, we let our daughters pick out her bed and fittingly, they picked a pastel pink dog bed with “Princess” written across the front.
That bed has now seen better days and I’m looking to replace it with something that is just as comfortable for Hope, but in a color/pattern that fits in with my home decor (which does NOT include pastel pink!). I thought you might enjoy seeing some of the pet beds that I found in the course of my hunt, including some outlandish ones as well as some with high style but reasonable prices.
If I had an unlimited budget, my pet bed of choice would be Frontgate’s Arthur Fine-Furniture Pet Sofa. I love the Louis XV style, the cane weaving, and the shape and finish of the bed. Sadly, it is priced at a whopping $399! Unless I happen to luck upon it on megasale at the Frontgate Outlet, this beauty won’t ever be gracing my home…

Frontgate also has a great pet bed for those of you who have an unlimited budget but a more contemporary style – the Espresso Metropolitan Double Pet Bed. This bunk-style pet bed has sleek modern lines and can house two dogs – one on each bunk! It can be yours for the mere price of $499!

Another dog bed with a modern, contemporary feel is Pamper Me Puppy’s Wowo Pod Designer Dog Bed. It comes with a shaggy, modernistic pad and is available in multiple finishes for (yikes!) $859.95.

If you’re looking for a more traditional feel for your dog bed, Frontgate has partnered with Mitchell Gold + Bob Williams to create the Paige Pet Chaise. This designer piece is made with the same craftsmanship as all Mitchell Gold + Bob Williams furniture, including a kiln-dried hardwood frame and 8-gauge serpentine steel springs. It comes in three colors (Flint, Ice, & Mushroom) and can be yours for $599.

A bed that is a good mix of traditional and contemporary is Bling Bling Puppy’s Cowgirl Chic Lounge Bed, which is priced at $500. With its high sides and nailhead trim, we’re talking some serious style!

Before we get to the pet beds that you and I may actually be able to afford, I have to show you this one just for kicks – Haute Diggity Dog sells a NYC Taxi Bed with “NYC DOG” license plate and a zip off cover for easy cleaning. It is priced at $249.

Moving on to some more reasonably priced pet beds, several of my best finds are from one of my favorite online shopping sites, etsy.com. Bow Wow Beds sells made-to-order pet bed duvet covers that can be stuffed with sleeping pillows, towels, blankets, memory foam, or even an old pet bed. They are made in durable cotton duck canvas and are available in lots of great designs and colors. My favorite is the chevron:

The price of the chevron pet bed duvet cover depends upon the size – $31 for small, $45 for large, and $55 for extra large. If you like chevron, there is no way that you can’t find a color that you like with their wide selection of fabrics:

Another etsy.com seller, Olive Crow also sells some great pet duvet covers, including this 35″ x 45″ Yellow/Grey Diamond Pet Duvet Cover for $55.

I also found a company called Molly Mutt that makes some fabulous dog bed duvets. They sell their duvets with “stuff sacks” that you fill with old clothes, blankets, etc. and insert into the duvet.
My favorite dog duvet sold by Molly Mutt is the Title Track duvet (small is $25, medium is $35, & huge is $50).

This gives you an idea of what the stuff sack looks like and how it works with the duvet:
I also love the Spitting Fire design (and that French bulldog is just the cutest!):

and their Conversation 16 design:

For you cat lovers out there, they also sell cat duvets, like this La Vie En Rose duvet:

If you’d rather buy your pet bed from a local store rather than ordering online, Home Goods is the place to go for a stylish bed at a reasonable price. Here are some of the many pet bed options at my local Home Goods:
A pink Cynthia Rowley pet bed fit for a princess ($29.99)
and a luxurious faux-leather pet sofa ($59.99).
My favorite of the Home Good finds were these more down-to-earth dog bed options with great fabrics (top photo: $29.99; bottom photo $24.99):
Enjoy your weekend everyone – we are looking forward to going to Mount Adams’ annual Reindog Parade this Saturday. If you’re a Cincinnati local and haven’t ever been, it’s a lot of fun and proceeds benefit the SPCA so check it out!
