House Hunting Update

So we just wrapped up day two of house hunting in Connecticut and while I love looking at houses, it's honestly been a pretty exhausting, stressful process. We've seen some nice houses (that of course cost twice what they would in Cincinnati..,) but we haven't yet fallen in love with anything.  The houses we've seen are such a mixed bag - for example, the basement bathroom that we saw in one house was beautiful:

but then the master bathroom and other upstairs bathroom both looked like this:

Houses that had some of the most charming New England touches:

were in need of major help:

Another house we were anxious to see had this gorgeous family room that was just as beautiful in person as in the online pics
but to get to this isolated room, you have to exit the main part of the house through a door by the garage, go up a set of stairs (where the temperature isn't much warmer than it is outside) and then through another door at the top of the stairs. If my husband and I were in here watching TV at night, our kids could scream bloody murder from the main part of the house and we'd never hear them. Not gonna work.

So our search continues tomorrow - we've got ten more houses to see and then we need to start making some decisions. A few of the houses we'll see tomorrow look pretty promising so fingers crossed that we find "the one". I'll post some pics of the final contenders - would love your input!

  1. Ugh! I'm sure that was such a disappointment! Too bad those awesome features were accompanied by really bad ones! Hope your search gets better!

I'm a newer follower & just realized you lived in Cincinnati. I live on the East side of the city in Milford! (I always get excited when I find other local bloggers...)

  2. Looking forward to seeing what else yall find. But I do love the last pic....is it an ez fix (without too much $) to enclose the space in between the room/garage and the house?

    1. I know - isn't that room just gorgeous?! I think we may have looked into enclosing the space between the house and this room but there were other things about this house that didn't work quite right for us either. We decided we were better off continuing the hunt!
