Thanks so much for your comments and votes on the three houses that were our favorites from our Connecticut house hunting trip. I'm thrilled to tell you that we made an offer on house #1 and that after some back and forth negotiations, it was accepted! House #1 is the house that also received the most blog votes and positive comments out of our final three so we're all in agreement here!
There are many reasons why we decided on it, but the two most important were its excellent location (close to work, school, and my girls' sports) and that it has a warmth and charm that made it feel like home. We walked through the house for a second time on Tuesday and loved it even more than our first walk through. You saw the MLS pics of most of the rooms of this house {here} but I'd love to share some of my own pics that showcase some of this house's great features, starting with the beautiful entry:
The dining room has a built in china cabinet - so charming!
Both the dining room and the living room have bay windows with cushioned window seats. We are a family of readers and I know that these window seats will be favorite spots in our home:
One room that you haven't seen is this small, cozy TV room that is one of my favorite rooms in the house:
On the other side of the room is a large built-in desk and bookcase, which will probably be my laptop headquarters:
My favorite feature in the kitchen is the charming brick fireplace:
You couldn't tell from the single kitchen picture that I showed you before, but there is actually loads of cabinet space - I love the glass fronts on these upper cabinets:
And the kitchen floors...love them too!
There are several features of this house that our tween girls will adore, such as this built-in kids desk nook that you access through a kid-sized doorway:
Both kid bedrooms have full double door closets, but each room also has a kid-sized doorway that leads to a nook with more closet space and connects the two rooms to each other:
How cool is that? I can't wait for the girls to see the house in person for the first time - there's no way that they won't love it! We still have to do the home inspection and appraisal but hopefully everything will move forward without a hitch. Thanks for sharing in this exciting time for our family!

ReplyDeleteThanks Stacey - I think my girls will love it!
DeleteCongrats! I loved this house from the photos that you shared before, but these photos fill in the gaps to show an even more lovely home. I'll bet your daughters will be thrilled with their own special little spot that connects their rooms! Growing up, my aunt's home had something similar between her two girls rooms and I have very fond memories of playing there. I hope the inspection and appraisal processes go smoothly for you!
ReplyDeleteThank you Julie - I hope my girls will create some great sister memories just like you did!
DeleteGreat news, congrats! It is lovely, has so much personality. I'm sure you will work your magic on this one to make it your home!
ReplyDeleteThanks Carla - we are so excited! I can't wait to get my hands on it :-)
DeleteGreat house and welcome to CT. Your money doesn't go very far here huh?! Good luck making it your own. I can't wait to see what you do to the place.
ReplyDeleteThank you! You are so right about your money not going far (we had total sticker shock) - thank goodness for mortgage rates being low :-)
