I’m admittedly a bit of a throw pillow addict, but with good reason! When you keep your upholstered furniture pieces neutral, all it takes is a switch-up of throw pillows to give your space an entirely new look! My favorite throw pillows are from Serena & Lily but they’re SO pricey (you can check them out {here}). While I’ll invest in these beauties from time to time, I also like to mix in more budget-friendly options.
Over the past few years, Amazon has really come out strong with some great looking pillow covers at amazing prices. Many of them are priced in pairs (so take that into account when looking at the prices), and all are pillow covers (they don’t include the inserts). I gravitate towards blues and greens, but most of them come in a wide variety of other color options too. Let’s get to it… (post includes affiliate links; for more information see my full disclosure statement {here}.
Green Budget Throw Pillows
{These scalloped throw pillow covers} are absolutely darling and come in ten color options, including this two-toned green:

They’re sold in pairs in three size options.
I’ve had {these pleated green throw pillow covers for years} in the sage green color option and love the texture that they add to any space:

They come in a pair, which is pretty unbelievable considering the price! These are my other favorite green throw pillows on a budget:

{This pink and blue floral pattern throw pillow cover} would be darling in a girls’ room (or really any feminine space!):

For a high-end look, {these green and blue leafy motif throw pillow covers} are a win:

Mix Throw Pillows
Many of these pillows can be mixed and matched for a designer look! Here are a few examples:

Throw Pillow Inserts
As mentioned, all of these pillows include the pillow cover without the insert. I actually love this because (1) it keeps the price down and (2) budget-friendly pillow covers that come with the inserts are always polyester filled junk. I highly recommend pillow inserts that are either a down/feather combination or a down-alternative insert. They are so much more plush and comfortable, and give your pillows a more high-end, plump look. Once you have a set of nice pillow inserts for your home, you can simply buy new covers and swap them out with your old covers using the same insert.
One important tip is to use pillow inserts that are 2″ larger than the size of your pillow covers. So, for example, if you have a 20″ pillow cover, you’ll want to use 22″ pillow inserts. The larger inserts will fill out your pillow cover completely and give them a more luxurious look!
Which of the many options in down/feather pillow inserts is best? The higher the percentage of down, the better the pillow. Pillow inserts that are 25% down/75% feathers are AMAZING but they’re also crazy expensive. I have a few of these, but I mostly use inserts that are 5% down/95% feathers (specifically {these ComfyDown pillow inserts} that come in a variety of sizes). If you’re allergic to feathers and need synthetic down inserts {these Pillowflex synthetic down inserts} get great reviews.
