Do you guys find shopping for sheets to be totally confusing? I literally had threadbare sheets on my bed for over a year because I got overwhelmed by figuring out what thread count, materials, etc. I should be looking for when shopping for new ones. I’m pretty sure that a lot of you are in the same boat – I can’t tell you how many times over the past years I’ve gotten emails asking about where to buy the best sheets. My response has always been “I’ll let you know when I figure it out!”. Well, I went all sheet geek a few months back and did hours of research on what to look for, read almost every review out there, and then took the sheets I chose for a test drive (or actually sleeps!). And I’m happy to report that I’ve finally got some great sheets to recommend to you! (this post includes affiliate links – see my full disclosure statement {here})
They’re {these sheets} from a small company called Boll & Branch. Check it out – my bedroom’s looking pretty hotel swanky with my new sheets and bedding, right?!
The packaging is beautiful – a glossy white box tied with a satin ribbon (I felt like I was opening up a present!). After taking off my winter bedding and washing it up, the boxes my new bedding came in were perfect for storing it until the cold weather comes back around later this year:
Of course I love pretty things, but when choosing new bed sheets, it was about a whole lot more than just pretty. These are the things that sold me on Boll & Branch sheets:
- They’re made with single-ply yarn – did you know that the ply of yarn tells you a whole lot more about the quality of your sheets than thread count? I had no idea! It turns out that many manufacturers inflate their thread counts by using double- or triple-ply yarns made by twisting 2-3 lower-grade threads together. So a 500 thread count sheet from one company is often not going to be the same quality of a 500 thread count sheet from another company. If you see 800 thread count sheets for a bargain price, be wary.
- They’re made with 100% organic cotton with no pesticides and with Fair Trade labor.
- The cost is reasonable. Boll & Branch’s sheets are not cheap but they’re priced well for luxury sheets and I’m expecting them to last longer than ones I’d pay less for. They’re able to keep their costs down by selling directly online to consumers without the costs of middlemen and retail space.
- The top sheet is generously sized. After years of my husband and I playing tug of war with our top sheet, I wanted one that was wider than average and would end the sheet tugging game!
- They have over 5,000 customer reviews that are the best I came across anywhere (see for yourself {here}).
- They stand behind their products and offer returns within 30 days for anything you’re not 100% satisfied with.
Now that I’ve had several weeks to sleep on them, I can also say that they’re super soft and have a substantial, very luxurious feel. The only downside to make you all aware of is that they’re not wrinkle free. From what I’ve read, having wrinkle free sheets requires using synthetic fibers or “finishing” them with a chemical process – it was one thing I knew I’d be giving up to when I decided that 100% organic cotton was best and is a trade-off I’m happy with. Boll & Branch recommends that you shake your sheets and other bedding out between going from the washer to the dryer to decrease the number of wrinkles. I’ve tried this and it does help but if you’re wrinkle-free obsessed you’ll still have to get out the steamer or iron.
And while I wanted to focus on giving you all the sheet scoop today, I should mention that I love the rest of my new Boll & Branch bedding too!
It’s so nice having the lighter and brighter look that white bedding gives my room for summer. The bedding I chose is {this} banded duvet cover in white/stone (it has ties on the inside of each corner to keep your duvet insert in place – is a must for me!), {these} banded euro shams in white/ stone, and {these} white hemmed standard shams. I also have a cute embroidered lumbar sham in gray with a diamond pattern (the diamond pattern is no longer available in gray but {this chevron pattern} is)!
I’m loving that all of my bedding pieces have nice, crisp edging so that the “ears” of my shams stand straight up!
And for those of you who are wondering about having white bedding with a dog (especially one like Hope who is spoiled enough to think the bed is as much hers as ours :), I always make sure there’s a throw on the bed and she gravitates right to it!
I’m trying to use my beautiful new bedding as incentive to be better about making my bed every day – it’s not something I’ve been very good about in the past. That’s partially because Hope usually sleeps in later than me and then I don’t find the time to get back around to making it once she’s out of bed (did I tell you she’s way too spoiled?!). But now I’m getting in the habit of doing it once I’ve gotten my kids off to school – I’ve actually been hanging out on it most mornings for ten minutes or so to plan my day and figure out what I need to get done (I’m a to-do list junkie – paper and pencil all the way!).
It’s been so much nicer starting my day off this way instead of sitting in front of the computer and is a habit I hope I stick with:
I hope you found all of this info on sheets to be helpful as you chose your own! I’ve linked all of my bedding pieces (including the colors I chose) along with other bedroom sources you might be wondering about below. And I also created this Pinnable image in case you want to save a pic with link to this post for sheet shopping a year or two down the road:

Kris, your bedroom looks like a five star hotel. There are sheets I like and sheets I don’t like; I have never researched the “why” so thanks for taking care of that part! ???? I have a couple of bedrooms I skimped on sheets initially because I just needed to get a bed set up. I need to check these out! (Especially in Nan’s room 😉 )
Kris Jarrett says
Thanks Kelley – for the first week I had the new bedding, I’d walk in and look around like “who’s bedroom is this?” – lol! I’m loving the change and think you’d love the sheets!
Lisa says
We are completely obsessed with nice sheets here too. There is nothing I adore more than getting into bed at the end of the day!! Your new sheets and duvet are gorgeous, I love the grey trim and that simple, fresh, clean hotel look. They look like they were made for your bedroom!!
Kris Jarrett says
Thanks Lisa! There are a few things that are worth paying a little more for and they include good jeans and a good pair of sheets! 🙂 Enjoy your weekend!
Zarah says
Oh thank for this! I, too, have issues looking for bed sheets.
Oh, by the by, I adore your style and where did you find your drapes? Looks lovely!’
Kris Jarrett says
Hi Zarah – thank you! My drapes are from Pottery Barn – if you go to the source list at the end of the post there’s a direct link to the specific ones I have with information on lining and color too. Have a great weekend!

I’ve actually never had all white bedding and didn’t know how much I would love it until I put together this set!!

Hi Kris – it’s Louise’s daughter Katie (from Tulipwood 🙂 ) — she passed along your Blog and Instagram and I love following it! I know you guys are very missed here in Cincy! Did you know the owner from Boll & Branch went to IH? She is a few years older than me, but her brother was in my grade. SMALL world huh? I love their stuff and the cable knit throw is a couch staple here!
Hope you and the family are well!!
Kris Jarrett says
Katie!! So good to hear from you! And I had NO idea about the IH connection – that’s so crazy! Definitely a small world! Say hi to your mom and dad for me! XO
Gail says
I have been searching for a lightweight duvet cover like yours that won’t be too wrinkly- did you have to iron the duvet?
Kris Jarrett says
Hi Gail! I did have to iron them to get the wrinkles out – unfortunately I think the only bedding that isn’t wrinkled out of the dryer is bedding that has synthetic fibers or is “finished” with a chemical process.
Randi says
Kris your bedroom looks amazing! That bedding is fantastic!
Kris Jarrett says
Thank you so much Randi!
Chelsea Coulston says
Kris, I love the new bedding! It’s so luxurious and I love how crisp the pillows are – nothing worse than floppy Euro “ears” 😉
Kris Jarrett says
Thank you Chelsea! It was so fun getting to hang out with you in Chicago – hope our paths cross again soon!
Lisa says
Hi Kris
I agree with you on the chemicals. I would take wrinkled sheets any day over the no wrinkle kind. That is also the case with no wrinkle shirts and blouses.
Loved your bedding, It has that hotel look!
I am totally into the Belgian linen bedding right now. The loft and weight is just lovely.
Have a great day.
Lisa
Kris Jarrett says
Thanks Lisa! I truly had no idea about the non wrinkle shirts and bedding until recently – yuck! Thanks for the sweet words about my new bedding! 🙂

Your bedroom looks lovely. That is our biggest complaint with most sheets we have purchased. The top sheet is never wide enough! I will have to look into these.
Kris Jarrett says
Me too! My husband is a sheet hog – these are like a good 8-10″ wider than our old set – love that!
suzanne riviere says
I roll up the insert for the duvet width wise. insert into duvet and while holding unto point of entry and one end of duvet, I let it unroll inside the duvet until it unfolds and then use the ties to secure at corners. I’ve struggle for years and found this to be the easiest way yet to get that dang thing inside.
Kris Jarrett says
I’ll try that! Thanks Suzanne!
suzanne riviere says
thank you for the great information on sheets. learned some new things and nothing beats a beautifully made bed at the end of our busy days.
Mary says
how do you make the corners of your euro shams “stand up?” Or is it just the quality of the linens that assures you that they won’t “flop” over!
Love you blog…thanks!
Kris Jarrett says
Mary I’ve had that problem too with lots of Euro shams but these just stand up on their own (I didn’t starch them or do anything differently) – I love that about them!
Elissa says
Thank you for all this information. I did not know that about the tread count.
I am need of new fitted sheets- unfortunately, as much as I’d like to buy something so nice- I can’t justify $110 for just one fitted sheet. I guess I’m stuck with searching the stores for something more affordable. I’d love to know what people think is the best/more affordable brand of sheets.
Carlene Cochran says
Love this room elegant in a calming sort of way. So sick of beige, brown, tan etc. the sheets I like but not sure of wrinkles. At 80 years old not up to ironing . I have been looking at sheets and it is so confusing. I really like that you give information on items you used in the room.
Saara Ndakeya Shou-shiimi says
Lovely. Wonder how much is a set.
