I’ve spent the last several days grilling my husband and girls about their favorite things of 2018 so I can include them in my annual favorite things gift guide that I’m bringing to you today! It includes all of my favorites and my family’s favorites that we have, love, and think others would love to receive as gifts. There’s lots to share so let’s get to it! (post includes some affiliate links – see my full disclosure statement {here})
Let’s break it down starting with my own list of things I love and use ALL of the time:
- I get something new from Barefoot Dreams every year or two because they are the things I reach for in my closet again and again – the softest, coziest clothes ever! This year I bought {this cozy hooded cardigan} that’s my favorite one yet! It’s pretty much like getting to spend the day with your coziest pajama top on without looking like a slacker 🙂 And I love that there’s a hood I can throw on for taking Hope outside in the cold or running into the grocery store in the rain but if you prefer one without a hood, check out {this cardigan} or {this cardigan} that are the same cozy brand. With free shipping and returns definitely the perfect gift!
- This $25 teak wood vase found {here} looks like one that cost three times that – it’s gorgeous and even though I’ve only had a it a few months I use it constantly! You can use it for faux or dried flowers or slip an cup or inexpensive glass vase inside for fresh flowers. Order online for store pick-up or delivery.
- I bought {this cement chrysanthemum pot} for our new kitchen and just like the wood vase, at only $20 it looks so much more expensive than it is! It comes in multiple sizes (mine is the medium pot) and can be used both indoors or out!
- I received {this small travel jewelry case} as a gift and use it every time I travel – it’s the perfect size for a weekend getaway and I like that it has a firm shape so that my jewelry won’t get smushed or damaged. Right now it’s on sale for $20 with free shipping!
- These Moonlight Pajamas found {here} are the most wonderfully warm and cozy PJs and they have ten different color options to choose from with everything from florals to patterns to the more simple contrast trim options that I have and love! Free shipping and free returns on these too!
- This is absolutely one of my favorite purchases of 2018 so I had to include it in the list but just a little tip to any husbands/boyfriends/etc. reading this gift guide – if you get this for your girl I’m sure she’ll love it BUT be sure you get this in addition to some other pretties like a sweater, vase, etc. Getting her ONLY a hand vac for the holidays is usually not a good thing – lol. That being said, this Dyson handheld vac is THE BEST! I got mine on eBay {here} where they sell refurbished vacs for less (with a six month warranty) but you can also buy the V6 (the one I have) new {here} or the newer V7 model {here}.
- I’m sure it’s no surprise that I love home decor books and have many – this Terrain book (available {here}) is not only a beautiful coffee table book but it’s full of simple tips and ideas for both home decorating and gardening (including an idea that I’m using for my Christmas decorating – I’ll be sharing that soon!). We have a Terrain store 20 minutes from my home and it’s the most inspiring place to roam and shop – this book is the same and I think any home or garden lover would really enjoy it!
- I just got {this bracelet} a few weeks ago and it’s become a fast favorite – it’s always hard to tell from online pics what things will look like in “real life” but this one is even prettier than I thought it would be! I’ve hardly taken it off since getting it – it’s pretty enough that you could wear it with a holiday dress while at the same time it looks great with everyday sweaters. And if you’re not a gray person, it comes in three other beautiful color options. Also check out {these bauble earrings} that match!
- My husband swears by {these gloves} that are copper infused so that they work on cell phone touch screens and have an anti-slip grip. Just make sure your man doesn’t wear them backwards like my husband did when I snapped this pic of him using them! I took the pic right as he was heading out the door and not long after that he realized he had put his gloves on the grips on the outside instead of the inside that day. So get the gloves but be sure your man knows how to put them on – ha!
- My husband is a big fan of nonfiction writer Malcolm Gladwell (some of his well known books are The Tipping Point and Outliers) and somehow he had missed his book David and Goliath (available {here}). He just read it and ended up loving it just as much as the others – all three of these books seem to have universal appeal based on their reviews and would make great gifts!
- We installed {this Nest Hello video doorbell camera} this year and both of us are obsessed – this could as easily be on my favorites list as his! Not only is it great to see who’s at the door before you answer it, but you can talk to people at your door through the app if you’re not home, use it to make sure your kiddos get home (and see at what time!) and never miss a package sitting outside your door. After visiting us, my sister got one and she absolutely loves it too (if you read the reviews you’ll see they’re universally glowing). A great gift with free shipping and free returns!
- My husband has had a tall Yeti tumbler for several years but recently got this shorter Yeti Rambler (available {here}) and now uses it almost exclusively. He likes it for his coffee because it keeps it warm for hours but you can also use it to keep cold drinks cool!
- My husband loves our Echo Dot and uses it to ask Alexa about the weather and news for the day when he’s getting ready in the morning. We have the 2nd generation Echo Dot available {here} but there’s a 3rd generation Echo Dot on presale right now for delivery in about a week that’s available {here}.
- Like Nest Hello, this last one could be on the favorites list for any one in my family – it’s our “saves our sanity for long car trips” car charger with 5 USB ports available {here}. Plug it in up front and the passenger and driver each have a USB outlet and then there’s a long cord that easily reaches the back seat with three more outlets. No more debating who has the lowest battery life left to get access to the charger! (Or are we the only ones that do that on our major car trips?!). Lifesaver!!
- I don’t think it matters how old my girls get – fuzzy socks are always a hit! {This set} of three pairs for $25 is a favorite and wear so much better than the cheaper ones you get at places like Old Navy.
- Last year I got both of my girls these glam manicure sets (available {here}) for stocking stuffers and they love them!
- Laptop stickers (the large vinyl ones) are still big and Red Bubble is THE place to get them – some of the most popular ones right now are stickers of The Office ({here}) or Parks & Rec {here} including {this Scott’s Tot’s} sticker pictured above. I think I’m the only person on the planet who hasn’t seen either of those shows so I’m just going to have to take my girls’ word on this one!
- My youngest daughter is reading The Hate You Give (available {here}) for school and says it’s amazing. And she’s not alone – there are over 3,000 reviews with 95% of people giving it 4 or 5 stars so I’m dying to read it too! It’s actually meant for adults and does have a serious subject matter so I’d maybe choose it for teens 15 years and up.
- If your teen doesn’t have a stick-on wallet for the back of their phone yet ({these} are highly rated ones), they’re a great, inexpensive stocking stuffer!
- There’s a good chance that the teen you’re looking to buy a gift for already has wireless earphones but if she doesn’t, they would definitely be a hit! My girls both have BeatsX which you can find them {here} and {here}.
One of my daughters also told me that I HAD to add {this} Fenty Beauty Gloss Bomb to the list because it’s the most popular cosmetic right now (she saved her own money to buy it and loves it). And if all else fails, get teens a Sephora gift card {here} or an Ulta gift card {here} – those are always going to be well received!
There’s some great ideas here. I haven’t started shopping yet, so this helps inspire me to get going. I’m so excited for the season, starting with next week—Thanksgiving. Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family. I’m always thankful for my blog friends!
xo,
Karen
Happy Thanksgiving to you too Karen!
