We’re knee deep in the busiest time of the year for entertaining family and friends so it’s the perfect time to be partnering with a talented group of bloggers and designers to share 30 different takes on holiday entertaining. It’s all part of the Styled + Set Holiday Entertaining Blog Tour, hosted by Lory of Designthusiasm and you’ll find that each post is loaded with ideas and inspiration. If you’re coming over from Kelley Nan, welcome! Kelley’s tablescapes are always stunners, right?!
I decided to take this tablescape party out of my usual spot in the dining room and do something a bit more casual – a simple Christmas brunch in our eat-in kitchen. I’m still not 100% done with our DIY built-in banquette (I want to add fabric and nailheads to the top part of the base) but it’s done enough that we’ve been putting this baby to use!

I would actually prefer to host brunch rather than a dinner any day of the week – not only do I love breakfast food but I also like the more casual, relaxed feel of it. I set my table with white plates and napkins and a few silver and gold accents along with some pops of red. Each plate has a Merry Christmas tag (they’re actually gift tags I snagged at HomeGoods) tied around a sprig of greenery that I clipped from our backyard:
The glasses are {these gold bottomed beauties} I picked up this summer and the rattan chargers are thrifted but {these} are very similar. The white plates with gold dots and bowls with gold rims are HomeGoods scores.
The centerpiece is a mix of backyard greenery clippings with some ilex berries from Trader Joes in {my favorite vase}. It’s sitting on top of a wood slice (mine was thrifted but similar ones are available {here}) that’s disguising the fact that my runner is too long for my table. My trick is to simply fold it over in the middle until it’s the length that you want on both sides and then put something large that covers the fold (in my case, the wood slice) on top of it.

Our Christmas brunch menu was super simple – mixed berries, muffins, and pancakes. Of course we doused the pancakes with whipped cream (that classy whipped cream can didn’t make the cut for my table – ha!) and also added a little sweet holiday treat of finely crushed candy canes for the kiddos to sprinkle on top!
The whole tablescape was super quick and easy to put together – less time decorating means more time eating and enjoying your family or guests!
I’ve mentioned most of my sources along the way but can shop most of my tabletop accessories here:
My table was a find at the Restoration Hardware Outlet and the two slipcovered chairs are thrifted finds from years ago. If you’re on the hunt for a trestle table, be sure to check out post on my 10 favorite trestle dining tables for more beautiful table options.
