If you love Restoration Hardware’s furniture but not necessarily their prices, these are my best tips for getting the Restoration Hardware look for less!
Stores Like Restoration Hardware
I found a store (well actually a group of ten stores) that sell several pieces that look identical to pieces at Restoration Hardware. It seems that at least some of them are from the exact same manufacturer. They go by one of three names: Southeastern Salvage Home Emporium, Southeastern Salvage, or Home Emporium but are all owned by the same parent company and all have amazing furniture and home decor deals. The stores are located in the Midwest, South, and East Coast including the towns of Birmingham, Columbia, Knoxville, Mobile, Nashville, Shreveport, Chattanooga, Chesapeake, and Cincinnati (see their website for more info on locations). They have the craziest assortment of items – where else can you get a toilet, jewelry, Pella windows, a tiki hut, and fabulous furniture all in one place?? Check out some of the furniture pieces I found on my recent visit to the Cincinnati store and see how they compare in looks and price to Restoration Hardware’s furniture. This nailhead chair was one of the first things that caught my eye – I love the lines of the chair and the large nailheads around the base. I also love the price – $169.
Compare it to Restoration Hardware’s Nailhead Upholstered Chair, which has a starting price of $500:
Very similar but with darker legs!
Then I came across this guy selling for $398. Does he look familiar to you?
It may be because you just saw him in Restoration Hardware, but at over double Home Emporium’s price! It doesn’t just look the same – according to Home Emporium, it is the same. Yep, the identical item from the same manufacturer that makes it for Restoration Hardware.
Another great find at Home Emporium was this gal, who had a price tag of $699
While Restoration Hardware doesn’t have an identical match to this table, they do carry a table in the same size and finish but with bulkier legs and a much higher price tag:
Looking for a large wood coffee table? I forgot to write down the price of this big guy at Home Emporium
but I’m sure he’s cheaper than his kissing cousin (Balustrade Salvaged Wood Coffee Table) at Restoration Hardware:
Home Emporium also carries a ton of mirrors, including this one for under $200
who looks very much like this one at Restoration Hardware for $325
Restoration Hardware Knock-Offs
While I’m not aware of any stores I trust that sell Restoration Hardware knock-offs. I do have a few tips for you to find Restoration Hardware furniture for less. First off know that Restoration Hardware buys some items from manufacturers that supply several of the large furniture brands. For example, a lot of Restoration Hardware’s lighting is made by Visual Comfort and can be found at several stores under different names. Restoration Hardware is typically competitively priced but they don’t have sales so you can often get the same light from a different store from less when it goes on sale. For example, Restoration Hardware’s 19th c. English Openwork Pendant available {here}
is Visual Comfort’s Darlana Pendant that can be found at these other retailers (who all put their lighting on sale frequently) as well:
Another tip is to shop for gently used Restoration Hardware online at sites like eBay {here} or Charish {here}. To find similar new knock-off furniture pieces, I’ve had the best luck at Wayfair {here}. Hope that helps a little! If you’ve found a great Restoration Hardware knock-off, please share!

Wow, great finds compared to the expensive Restoration Hardware. I might need to make a trip to Home Emporium real soon!

You’re right Justine – unfortunately they don’t have an online store and don’t ship. There used to be another store with items similar to Restoration Hardware that shipped overseas but it recently went out of business and I don’t know of any others. Sorry I couldn’t help!

Hi Kris,
Undoubtedly, you’ve recieved a lot of responses to this article. I am in the market for tufted leather couches and I wanted to inquire if the items you found above are knockoffs, of RH or are they also from the same manufacturer and of equal quality? – Thx/Aali

Furthermore, RH makes all of their product in China. Their mark-up is in the thousands – you’re not buying quality by any means. Your comment is not only tasteless, baseless. 🙂

I’m looking for a RH or “look alike” 60″ wide bookshelf, natural wood finish, bought one in 2011 and need a match or something that will compliment the existing.

Hi! I am looking for the English Windsor dining chairs from Restoration Hardware. They are discontinued now. Have you seen any? Used? Or know of anyone who makes wooden dining chairs? Or a knock off of them?
Thanks,
Nicole
