Hi guys! I’m so excited to be hosting a progressive dinner today along with four of my blogging friends – we’ll be visiting five blogger homes for five different courses, sharing a few of our favorite recipes and some design eye candy along the way! If you’re coming over from Randi Garrett’s beautiful courtyard where she hosted appetizers, welcome! I’m hosting salad in our dining room so come pile on in:
I like to decorate a heck of a lot more than I like to cook so I’m serving a simple strawberry poppyseed salad. Luckily it’s just as delicious as it is simple!
Take a seat (I’ll let you have one of the super comfy end chairs)!
My salad is a mix of fresh greens (I went with spinach), strawberries, feta cheese, almonds, and a homemade dressing that you can whip together in ten minutes:
Here’s the simple recipe in case you want to try it out this summer:
For my tablescape, you probably noticed that I have a pair of kinda unruly vases of flowers. They’re blooms from spirea bushes in our front yard and for some reason I’ve always loved the natural, untamed look so I’m digging these beauties! I lined the vases (there’s a vase within each vase) with sliced lemons and limes as an easy way to add some color without having to go any further than the grocery store:
For place settings, I used my new Juliska dinnerware (that I bought with the gift card I won on Instagram!) layered on woven rattan chargers:
I folded the napkins to create a triple pocket that holds the silverware:
and tied on some simple circle name tags with twine:
Eat up! It’s almost time for the next course!
Kelley Nan has grilled up some killer tilapia with mango salsa and saffron rice (yum!) on her back deck. And of course I’m dying to check out her tablescape because she always does it up right! Here’s a little sneak peek:
OK, forks down! It’s time to pack it on up and head over to Kelley’s house by clicking {here}. I’ll see you guys over there! And just in case you missed any of the courses, you can find them all here:
Appetizers: Randi Garrett Design
Salad: me!
Entree: Kelley Nan
Dessert: Dear Lillie
Have questions about my dining room paint color or anything else you see in the room? You can find a full source list at the end of {this dining room tour post}.
Enjoy the rest of your dinner!!

Lovely, lovely table setting!!! How did you fold the napkins with the triple fold?
thank you Kathy
Kris Jarrett says
It’s actually really simple Kathy and takes less than a minute to do. It’s hard to explain though – a couple of other people have asked too so I’ll do a little picture tutorial on a future blog post!

I am obssesed with the floral arrangements! How do you get the lemons to say put?
Kris Jarrett says
Thanks Betsy! The trick is to use a vase within your vase and have the lemon slices sandwiched between the two.

This dinner party is such a fun idea! I’m in love with all the the courses. Not to mention those simple little name tags for the napkins? Thats a great idea! Because of my job, I tend to host a lot of dinner parties and never really feel fully prepared, but I like to keep these ideas in my back pocket! Thanks for sharing.

I’m so glad you enjoyed it Terry! Thanks so much for the sweet comment!

Your table is beautiful. I love the floral arrangements with lemons. I think they add such a wow factor to the table.
Kris Jarrett says
Thanks Shannon – lemons are a favorite of mine for tablescapes too!
Sherri sacks says
Would you paint white dove in a two story foyer or is that too white ?
Kris Jarrett says
I would definitely use that color on a two-story foyer Sherri – it’s not a harsh white, it’s a nice soft one!

Hi I love the recipe and menu cards that you made. Can I ask how you make them? Thanks
Kris Jarrett says
Thank you! Randi who was part of this progressive dinner post actually made the menu (I’m not sure how she made it !) but as far as the recipe card, I made it using Picmonkey which is a free online program!
