If your home is feeling a little tired after winter, spring is the perfect time to lighten things up and make it feel fresh and inviting again. I’m not talking about a complete overhaul… just a few simple, thoughtful updates sprinkled throughout a few rooms.
From fresh florals and lighter layers to small swaps that make a big impact, today I’m sharing spring decorating ideas that will help you welcome the season with a home that feels bright, airy, and beautifully pulled together. (post includes commissionable links; for more information, see my full disclosure statement {here})
1. Start Your Spring Refresh at Your Front Door
Adding a colorful wreath to your front door gives you a joyful vibe before you even step foot in your home. One of my favorites is {this faux lemon wreath} we had on our front door a few years back:

I also love the simplicity of {this boxwood tulip wreath}:

Now that we have double front entry doors and I need TWO wreaths, finding them at a lower price point has become key. This year I bought two of {these eucalyptus red rose wreaths} and I was surprised by how large and full they are:

Definitely a win! Check out my post on spring wreaths for your front door for more of my favorites.
Now’s also a great time to upgrade your front doormat if it’s looking weathered and worn. Ruggable has a two-piece washable doormat system {here} that I think is so smart! It includes a nonslip rubber base and a machine-washable cover that snaps on and off for easy washing. You can also buy just the cover to swap new designs on and off the same rubber base! {This spring pattern} that comes in both a standard and elongated size is a favorite:

2. Transform Your Table With a Pop of Color
One of the simplest ways to give your dining space a spring refresh is by swapping in a colorful tablecloth like {this pink block print pattern tablecloth}:

or a spring table runner, placemats, or napkins such as {these beauties}:

It’s such an easy change, but it instantly breathes new life into the entire room, adding color, pattern, and that layered look that makes a space feel thoughtfully styled without a lot of effort.
My favorite sources for colorful table linens are Pomegranate {HERE} and Anthropologie {HERE} but they’re definitely on the pricier side. For a more budget-friendly option, on Amazon check out Cotton Print Club’s table linens {HERE}, Ridhi linens {HERE} including {this beautifully patterned tablecloth},

and Over & Back’s table linens {HERE} including {this green block print tablecloth}:

3. Liven Up Your Kitchen With Lemons
If your kitchen needs a quick spring pick-me-up, add fresh lemons or other citrus fruit to a favorite bowl and place it on your island, dining table, or open shelving. It’s inexpensive, effortless, and brings in that perfect pop of color that says “hello spring” without changing a single other thing in your space. {These white ruffle bowls} that I keep on our kitchen coffee bar shelves (they make the best serving bowls!) work beautifully for this:

4. Replace Heavy Throw Blankets with Lightweight Layers
As spring arrives, it’s time to tuck away the chunky knits and faux fur throws and bring in soft cotton throws or light linen blends in brighter, airier tones like {this highly rated organic airy gauze throw} that comes in several pretty colors:

The look feels lighter without sacrificing that cozy vibe we all love in our homes.
You can also switch things up by folding your throws and draping them over the back of your chairs or sofa when they’re not in use. It’s a beautiful look that works just as well indoors as it does on a porch or patio:

5. Restyle Your Coffee Table for the Season
Give your living or family room a quick seasonal refresh with a few simple coffee table swaps. Swap out darker accessories for lighter ceramics, woven pieces, or glass accents, add a small vase of flowers or a potted plant, or stack a pair of books with lighter covers and top them with a simple decorative object such as faux coral or glass beads:

Keeping the styling simple and edited down will make your coffee table feel airy and refreshed for the new season.
6. Bring Backyard Blooms Indoors
One of my favorite things about spring and summer is being able to clip flowers from our yard to place in vases big and small. It starts with flowering blooms from our backyard tree in March to the azaleas along our driveway in April,

our backyard roses in May,

and then our hydrangeas (my favorite!) in the summer months. While we have a few bushes of white and light blue hydrangeas in the yard of our current home, we had the most vibrant pink and purple mophead hydrangeas when we lived in Connecticut:

If you don’t have any backyard blooms to clip, grab an inexpensive bouquet of tulips or other spring flowers next time you’re at the grocery store. Their fresh colors will instantly brighten up your home!
7. Brighten Your Space With Fresh Art Prints
Swapping in art pieces with softer colors, lighter backgrounds, or subtle nature-inspired details is an easy way to lighten up a room for spring. I’m not talking about replacing your larger-scale artwork, but rather changing out art prints in just one or two smaller frames. And you can do it in a very budget-friendly way too! Etsy has a ton of digital art prints that you can print out at home for only a few dollars.
Just this morning, I printed an 8 x 10 of {this spring landscape} that I bought on Etsy for a whopping $3:

I printed it on cardstock from my home printer, but you can also email your digital prints to a local print shop for a professional print job. I’m going to swap this new, more vibrant print for the more muted print that’s in the small frame on our kitchen shelves:

A few of my favorite Etsy shops for digital art prints are Sunday Letter, Little Lady Print Shop, Leah Straatsma, Rainey Studio, Solano Digital, and Serola Art Studio which is where I found {this beach scene print} that’s in our guest room:

And for art prints that you can order on Etsy for delivery to your home, check out Maren Devine Art, Jorey Hurley, Lindsay Brackeen, Chelsea Lane Wall Art, and Kim Hovell Art.
And if you have a Frame TV, now’s a great time to do an art swap on that too! Check out my section on Frame TV Art with my favorite digital art sources for Frame TVs in my post on mounting a TV above the fireplace.
8. Add Outdoor Ambiance With Lighting
As the evenings get longer and the weather warmer, adding a few sources of glowing light can completely transform your outdoor living space. I hung up {these globe string lights} on our back porch and love the soft, warm glow they give off once the sun goes down:

Portable rechargeable LED lamps such as {these} layer in even more ambiance (and as a random side note, I’ve found that they’re awesome to have on hand for power outages too!):

It’s such a simple update, but it makes lingering outside on spring nights feel extra special. A couple of lanterns on the dining table or steps also add that cozy, collected feel, whether you use a pair or trio or you decide to go all out:

Suddenly your outdoor space will feel just as inviting as the inside of your home!
Tip: Once mosquitos start coming out, using citronella pillar candles like {these} in your lanterns will keep mosquitos at bay.
9. Soften Your Space with Spring Pillows
One of the easiest ways to transition your home into spring is by softening your space with a simple pillow swap. I like to trade out heavier winter textures for lighter fabrics like linen or cotton in soft blues, muted greens, and warm neutrals. Changing just a few pillow covers can make your sofa feel brighter and more relaxed without redoing the whole room. These are a few of my current favorites:

Pillow Links: Green leaf pillow cover | Blue fronds pillow cover | Pink edged floral pillow | Pink block print pillow cover | Botanical crewel pillow cover | Lemon pillow | Blue and white floral pillow cover | Pink & green floral shams | Gingham bow pillow
It’s a great time to refresh your outdoor pillows too! {These palm pillows} on our back porch that come in three sizes and three color options are a great buy:

Dive Into Spring Cleaning and Organizing
Lean into the new energy that comes with spring to tackle a few cleaning and organizing projects. Start small with a single drawer, a closet shelf, or a quick pantry edit and let the progress build from there. A few small project ideas include organizing your nightstand drawer(s),

tidying up your kitchen utensils, editing your closet by category (doing shoes one day, short-sleeve tops the next, etc.), straightening up your linen closet (and donating anything you no longer use), purging & organizing cleaning supplies in one easy-to-carry caddy, or doing a quick pantry edit.
Spring decorating doesn’t have to be complicated or overdone to feel special. I like to keep things simple and focus on a handful of thoughtful updates that make our home feel lighter, brighter, and ready for the season ahead. Whether it’s swapping pillow covers, adding a touch of greenery, or refreshing a few key spaces, these small changes really do add up. It’s all about creating a home that feels fresh and welcoming without starting from scratch.
The key to all ten of these ideas is to tackle one thoughtful update at time, finishing it completely, and enjoying that “done” feeling before moving on. Small updates add up quickly, and they’ll make your whole house feel lighter for the new season without a full, time-consuming overhaul. What’s your favorite way to update your home for spring?
XO,
