With the chaos of our master bathroom addition, trips to North Carolina to get our new home guest-ready for the holidays, and all of the other usual holiday busyness, “decking our halls” happened a little late this year! But I’m finally ready to invite you all inside to tour you around our Christmas home! It’s perfect timing since we got a little bit of snow overnight that makes everything glow both inside and out (I just snapped the pic below this morning!). So grab your cup of coffee, hot chocolate, or whatever you like to sip and surf with and let’s get to it… (post includes affiliate links – full disclosure statement available {here})
Decorating our front door with my holiday swag is one tradition that I’ll always find time for year after year. I clip a few greenery branches from the huge tree in our front yard, berry branches from trees in the back, and add {these bells} and a big bow (this year I used {this red plaid ribbon}). Here’s my 2019 version that I put together just a few days ago:
You might be surprised by how simple it is to do – from start to finish it takes me only about 20 minutes. {This blog post} shows you how to put it together step by step but this year I also took some video while I was putting my swag together and have it saved to my Highlights on Instagram {here} if you’d like to see!
The room I spent the most time decorating this year is one of the spaces we spend the most time in over the holidays – our family room:
Watching holiday movies in cozy PJs with the Christmas tree lights on is my favorite! Seriously, I think I could happily due it for days on end! This is the only Christmas tree that I put up in our house this year so I was able to steal some of the decorations (like the white poinsettias) from the blue and white tree that was in our bonus room last year. I mixed those “new” pieces in with my old standbys of my gold and silver ornaments and wide gray velvet ribbon. I also added a touch of red with {this plaid ribbon}:
Our family room definitely has more of a traditional red and green Christmas vibe than in previous years – I’m enjoying the simple change-up! Along with the red ribbon on our Christmas tree, I bought three of {these super cute red and gray plaid pillows} and mixed them in with {these textured white pillows} and {these gray medallion pillows} that I already owned. And of course, our super cozy faux fur throw (we have {this one}) is back in the mix too!
I also added {this pre-lit wreath} above our TV that goes on and off at the same time every day – such a great feature for something hung up high where it’s hard to reach!
The only decorations I pulled out of storage from our Christmas bins besides the ornaments this year are the little silver Christmas trees flanking our TV – I’ve had them for years (they were HomeGoods finds but you can also find similar ones {here}) and just love them. You might notice that I’ve kept my textured poufs (found {here}) in this space. I bought them about this time last year and planned to move them up to my daughter’s room after the holidays but we’ve all loved having them in here so much that they never left:
All of our other family room furniture and accessories are unchanged from when I made over this room three years ago (an eternity in blogland!) – I’ll link a few of the key pieces below but you can see the full source list for this space at the end of {this post} if there’s something else you want the details on.

Moving on to our kitchen, you’ll see some touches of red in this space too:
For the past few weeks I’ve been working on an off-blog project using pieces I chose from the Martha Stewart Collection at Macy’s – such cute stuff! Over the weekend I did a holiday buffet test-run using some of her serving pieces and decor – it was so much fun to put together and of course my family thinks that having a little pre-holiday buffet of yummy desserts and appetizers to snack on has been pretty sweet:
I also added a touch of Christmas to our kitchen door that leads out to the garage – it’s the one that we come and go through constantly so I thought it would be fun to place a beautiful wreath on the inside of the door where we can see and appreciate it. I chose {this wreath} c/o Etsy shop Style the Seasons – I LOVE the plaid ribbon and think the greenery looks so real! I’ve gotten several questions on Instagram about whether my wreath hanger scratches my door – I actually put thin adhesive felt like {this} on the back side of my wreath hanger and that seems to do the trick:

If you haven’t figured it out yet, I’m a sucker for anything with bells! Along with the jingle bells on my wreath, I added the cutest grouping of rope-hung bells to the door knob – the exact set I bought is no longer available but they’re very similar to {this bell set}.
Moving on to our guest room… Jeff and I have actually been sleeping here for the past month because our master bedroom has been so cold due to the bathroom construction going on. So I decided to dress our temporary space up just a bit! I simply added a pretty poinsettia to {this round beaded bedside tray} and swapped the mirror that’s usually above the bed with a wreath covered in twinkle lights:

Hope was a little confused at first (she’s totally a creature of habit) but she soon decided that as long as she’s still with her mama, all is good:
And yes, she has pajamas to wear when it gets really cold (you can see from her bare little legs that she’s lost a lot of her fur so she actually gets cold super easily). And yes, I have the matching human version. (And yes, I know it’s totally ridiculous – ha!)
I dressed up our guest bathroom too! I simply layered a wreath over the mirror above the toilet (I hung the wreath on the mirror with a Command hook and then used double sided tape to stick the ribbon to the mirror), added Christmas towels and some cute white LED houses (my exact little houses are no longer available but {these} are super similar):
The best part is how it glows at night since the Christmas houses and the little silver Christmas tree have LED lights:
If you’re wondering about how I decorated our fireplace/mantel for Christmas this year… I didn’t! I actually shipped our stockings and some mantel decor down to NC and will be decorating the mantel in that house later this month so stay tuned!
We’re going to be splitting our time between Connecticut and North Carolina over the holidays and while our NC house is still VERY bare, I made a few visits in the past two months to set up two of the three bedrooms so everyone at least has a decent bed to sleep in! I’m loving the direction that my girls’ room is going in – there’s still work to be done but it already feels like a cozy, happy space:

Neither of my daughters have seen this room in person since I decorated it but after seeing the pics I took while there, my oldest daughter asked if we could leave the tree in their room year-round. I like how she thinks 🙂
Thanks so much for touring around our Christmas home with me! I’ll still be doing a little bit of decorating here and there over the next two weeks (my front porch planters are next on my to-do list!) so be sure you’re following over on Instagram {here} where I’ll be sharing any new additions. And if you’re still looking for a few holiday gift ideas and you haven’t already seen it – check out my Christmas Wish List Gift Ideas post {here}. It was my birthday yesterday and Jeff was smart and bought me several things off of my own wish list in that post including a new pair of {these favorite PJs}, {these CozyChic joggers}, and {these new gray UGGs} – it’s pretty much the coziest present trio ever so of course I love it!
I hope you all are enjoying a wonderful holiday season!
XOXO,
