I got {these lantern trios} when I decorated for fall last year and they transitioned over to the holidays so beautifully that I was excited to use them again this year. Since I’m a girl who likes her symmetry, I have two identical sets flanking our front steps.
And since I kill anything and everything that I’ve ever put in {my planters}, I decided to go the lazy girl’s route this year and add some ginormous pumpkins instead of plants. I added just a little bit of {this} under the pumpkins to conceal any gaps between my pumpkins and the planters.
And did you notice my beautiful new hydrangea wreath? Janell gifted it to me (thank you!) from her Etsy shop where she makes the most beautiful wreaths – you can find my wreath {here} and explore all of the wreaths in Janell’s Etsy shop {here}.
Get the look:
Ready to come on inside? Our first stop is the dining room. As you can see, my love for black and white buffalo check is still going strong (I made my runner with fabric found locally but {this runner} is similar).
I went super, super simple for our centerpiece by filling up my favorite wood bowl with fresh peaches and a little bit of greenery from our backyard:
For our placesettings, I found some small wood cutting boards at HomeGoods (the four thin ones came as a pack and then the two thicker ones on the end were purchased separately) and tied some greenery on with black and white ribbon.
For those of you who are new to my blog, my plate wall is one of my favorite things about our house – you can read more details about how I hung my plates {here}.
On the side of our dining room opposite the window is a built-in china cabinet that is a life-saver given the small size of our dining room:
I keep two extra dining chairs on either side of our china cabinet and added {these two gray velvet pillows} to cozy things up for fall:
One last peek!
Ready to head down the hall to our living room?
For our mantel, I brought back a few art pieces from last fall including my DIY feather art, horse print, and Let’s Stay Home print and I added in a few pumpkins and a cute new chalkboard pumpkin fall printable:
My star pod adds some of that chunky natural texture that I love:
And some hydrangeas from our yard finish it off:
Adding fall to our family and living room is all about lots of plush, comfy pillows and throws! I bought this cream fringed throw several months ago and LOVE it. I actually just ordered a second one for our other swivel chair. And I found this new owl fabric last month and thought it was perfect for fall (you can find pillows in this fabric {here}). The price per yard is more than what I normally spend but by using an inexpensive black linen fabric for the back of the pillows I was able to get two 20″ pillows and a long lumbar one out of a single yard. The two square pillows are on our swivel chairs:
and the lumbar pillow is on our sofa. Flanking the owl print lumbar pillow are two faux fur pillows that I picked up at Target last year (they’re Hope’s favorite!):
Other new fall additions to our living room are pretty simple – I’ve wrapped some books on our coffee table in fabrics that coordinate with my new owl print pillows:
and scattered a few pumpkins around the room, including one in a trophy cup:
Moving on to our master bedroom, my planter head girl got a new ‘do with some more of our backyard hydrangeas:
Shop the look:
And our powder room got some new fall flowers in my vase holder (aka old house cup holder):
You can get the deets on this bathroom makeover (including info on the stenciled walls) {here} if you missed that post.
Right next to our powder room you’ll find our home office – I’m not done decorating this space for fall but I got a start by adding a few pumpkins and some fresh sunflowers to a gathering basket that I picked up at The Country Living Fair a few years back:
The stems of the sunflowers are in a glass baking pan in the bottom of the basket to keep them alive:
Get the look:
And the final stop is our kitchen where I just started adding the first fall touches by decorating our nesting herb crates and baker’s rack:
And yes, those are those same ole hydrangeas again (what can I say, my favorite kind of flowers are the ones that are free!).
Update! The second part of my home tour (including our master bedroom, foyer, and more of our home office) can now be found {here}!

So fresh and clean and airy. Striking! Could you please tell me what size your checks are on the runner on your table?
Thanks Missy! Sure, they are 1 1/2″ square.
Everything is beautiful but I especially LOVE your table setting!
Thank so much Jenni!
Kris,
I love the way your home transitions between seasons with just a few tweaks and a lot of natures bounty (faux or real). I love it all! The owl fabric is wonderful. Did you make the pillows yourself? I’ve got some black and white buffalo check fabric and have been debating about doing it myself. I’ve never put a zipper in a pillow before but I guess I should give it a try. 🙂
xo,
Karen
Thanks Karen! I wish I could say that I sewed my own pillows but I’m terrible with the sewing machine. It’s on my long term to-do list to sew my own pillows at some point!
Your home is beautiful, just like always! I love the way you added touches of Fall without it feeling too overwhelming. Looks great!
Thank you Kristen!
So beautiful Kris, you have such a way with styling ! I LOVE the Kate Spade owl print, the perfect dose of whimsy and such great colors! And, of course, your dining table is always a fav, I may have to steal your cutting board idea for Thanksgiving! 🙂
