Fall and I have a bit of a love-hate relationship – I hate the fact that fall means the end of my favorite season and the start of the downhill slide into the miserable Connecticut winters. But I love the gorgeous colors of the changing leaves, the fun of Halloween, anything pumpkin spice, and decorating my house with the warm tones and textures of the season. I tend to kick off my fall decorating by dressing up our front porch and am sharing some of my favorite fall decorating finds to do just that! (post includes affiliate links – full disclosure statement available {here})
Fall Wreaths
The past two years I’ve had fall wreaths that I really love and I’m debating between using one of them again this year or going with something new. My past years’ wreaths include this fall faux hydrangea wreath (available {here}):
and this fall wreath with peonies, pinecones, and pumpkins available {here}:
Another favorite fall wreaths I found is this fall peony wreath (available {here}):
Fall Garlands
An alternative to using a fall wreath is to use a fall garland that frames the front door – love this look!:
All three of these would look beautiful framing your front door or on a fireplace mantel too!
Fall Doormat
There are so many cute fall doormats out there too – for the past few years I’ve used this doormat (available {here}) – it’s the cutest, isn’t it?!!!
Other fall doormats I found that you might like are:
Lanterns
I love my two black lantern trios and how they look sitting on my fall front porch filled with pillar candles or pumpkins!
Fall Pillows
I know that fall pillows have absolutely nothing to do with decorating your front porch (unless you’re lucky enough to have a cute little bench or chairs!) but I thought I’d share some fall pillow finds too! I’m all about chunky textures…
I hope that you all enjoy the rest of your weekend!
I couldn’t find a fall wreath that I liked until I spotted this clearance wreath at Pier 1. At first glance I thought too summery…until I added small pumpkins and fall leaves and stems and berries. Perfect!
That’s so smart! Thanks for sharing!!
To be honest……I can’t wait to see what what your garage will look like when you’re done ! Please do a post on it…..I’ve been working on mine too!!
I definitely will Brenda! Hopefully it will be up at the end of this week!
Kris,
I suspect if I lived where the winters were harsh I would not want summer to end either. But since we live in Southern California (born and raised) both my husband and I wish for seasons. Autumn holds that promise here. The evenings get cooler and the days are often very warm, but the cooler nights make the number of hours of overly warm air much less. 🙂
I love all of the wreaths you’ve shown us. I’m going to be using my wreath from last year, but will probably want a new one next year. I’m going to save the etsy location for future use. Thanks for the lead.
xo,
Karen
I will trade you Connecticut for Southern California any day (but totally understand how it would be nice to have more distinct seasons)! 🙂
I just noticed that you’ve tied a beautiful ribbon to your wreath to give it more oomph… love that!
Thanks Lauren!!
Can I ask what you used in your planters? Is that cabbage?? My ferns bit the dust last month and I need something I can keep alive with minimal effort, haha. I love the small pumpkin idea! Do you keep the planters out for winter as well? First-time homeowner here looking for seasonal inspirations 🙂
Sure – I used ornamental cabbage and kale with mums in my planters – they’re pretty easy to keep alive (I kill everything and I manage to keep them going). I keep the planters out year round but the plants in them unfortunately die after the first hard freeze. 🙁
Kris,
I just viewed this website and really appreciate your taste in desgin. There are s many “chesszie websites” it always takes awhile to find just the right one!
Thanks for sharing~

I’m glad you enjoyed your visit to the blog! Hope to see you back here again soon!
Hello what brand paint and color are the exterior shutters on this house?
Unfortunately I don’t know the color since we haven’t changed it since we moved in!
