Decorating is a very s – l – o – w process for me – in part because I tend to be juggling several home projects at once but also because I try to be patient. When I don’t find exactly what I’m looking for, whether it be a pillow or piece of furniture, I will wait and keep looking, and wait and keep looking, and wait and keep looking until eventually I find it. It can take me weeks or months to settle on something as simple as a pillow but when I eventually find exactly what I was looking for, it makes the wait worthwhile. Such is the case with our master bedroom redo – I am starting with my headboard and bedding and will then move on to the rest of the room (furniture, drapery panels, rug, etc.) from there. I found our headboard in November, some of the decorative bed pillows and a bedskirt in December, and after weeks of looking I found the perfect coverlet this week. My bed is finally starting to come together:
I found the coverlet somewhere that I don’t typically shop – Kohls. It is one of the many coverlets from their Simply Vera bedding collection by Vera Wang. It is a lightweight cotton that should wash well (an important prerequisite given that our dog spends more time on the bed than we do…) and I love its color, texture, and linear design. As you can see, it has already gotten the approval of the most discriminating member of our household:

The coverlets in the Simply Vera bedding collection are regularly $179.99 for queen and $199.99 for king but they are currently on sale for $89.99 – $125.99 for queen and $99.99 – $139.99 for king depending upon the style of coverlet that you choose. In addition to the Linear Plaid Coverlet that I chose, there were several other nice coverlets in the collection:

Kohls also carries a Jennifer Lopez Bedding Collection with a large selection of comforters, coverlets, and pillows. From the bedding pieces that I saw in the store, I can’t say that I’m a fan of JLo’s coverlets and comforters but I did find a decorative pillow in her collection that works well with the other bedding pieces I have. Sign me up for two of these pretties!

I’d like to find one more decorative pillow for my bed (I think it needs it, don’t you?!). Maybe a lumbar/boudoir pillow that brings in some of the dark grey found in my Taza pillows … Then I’ll move on to finding lampshades, artwork, drapery panels, a rug, etc. I’ll let you know of my finds along the way!
